"I want you so bad I'll go back on the things I believe There I just said it, I'm scared you'll forget about me" It obviously means that his beliefs are something she doesn't agree with. And by him saying "I want you so bad I'll go back on the things I believe" means he'll rethink his beliefs if it means he gets her. |

This has to be one of my favorite TSC songs everrrrr. It is quite obvious that this song is about a death. NOT a break up. Yes, Nick is known for his deep lyrics and tasteful metaphors, but this song in my opinion is meant to be literal. (besides his comparison of the girl to a marigold.) I love the way he compares her to a flower as if to heighten her beauty. He obviously loved her and is "contemplating chewing off [his] tongue" so he won't scream out her name because he know he will forever love her. He has hit "rock bottom" because he never got to say goodbye to his marigold. oh yes, and might i add that i love the part about her keeping him alive for so long. Obviously meaning that she made him happy and supported him, thus completing him. |

This song is quite obvious in meaning. In general, life is taken for granted in one way or another. We all realize that life is short (hints the line: "We're on the run, but we are aware..."). For instance, the 32 year old who has cancer, knows that his life is going to be affected by his disease, so he let's his cancer control him. Just like the 7 year old boy whose father is neglecting him......he is always going to be affected by his father's lack of attention towards him and in turn, that will subconsciously affect his future relationships. I especially like the part about "aimless stares" because the guy (presumably the singer) doesn't want his life to be controlled by what he thinks he has to do. He doesn't want to be another "wasted" life. |
