Them Crooked Vultures – New Fang Lyrics 15 years ago
This song's about taking advantage of women. He sinks his "fang" into some unsuspecting "sucker" and it stirs up some sort of new-found lust in him, and he goes on a womanizing spree. Possibly this is some trend awakening from his past - "accept what I left far behind in a time when my mind was like a landmine."

The National – Mr. November Lyrics 17 years ago
With the recording pressures explanation in mind, maybe the cheerleaders line is a vague reference to crowd-surfing. He could be using the metaphor to illuminate the isolation of the album process and how it's nothing like doing intimate live gigs before the big label switch (This is nothing like it was in my room.)
Regardless of the exact meaning, that line gets the idea across so clearly of what it feels like to worry about letting people down, or feeling like you already have.

Adam Green – Choke on a Cock Lyrics 18 years ago
I think the Johnny Depp thing is just making fun of politics in general, and how if you're represented in the right way or in with the "in crowd," it doesn't really matter what you stand for. Let's face it, Adam Green's stuff could only be appreciated by an esoteric bunch. To say that he'd be the greatest singer on the radio if Johnny Depp called him is self-effacing societal commentary.

Adam Green – Bluebirds Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this is about being underwhelmed and depressed with one's existence. If you look at everything with grandiose expectations, you're going to be dissappointed - which would explain the change of heart in the bluebirds verse. I guess to me it's about not being able to find something to genuinely want or care about.
