| Motion City Soundtrack – Bad Idea Lyrics | 13 years ago |

Totally agree with you, knarfelak. I was also not a fan of this album to begin with, but the songs on this album have grown on me more than any other. This song is definitely to do with being unfulfilled in your life. Could be interpreted in a couple of ways from there, but to me it's about having had someone close to you earlier in your life who you believed in. You used to share all your bad (and good) ideas with, and maybe you only realised later in life whether those ideas were good or bad. Then wondering later in life if they believed in you or whether they always knew you wouldn't go anywhere. Maybe if you knew that they believed in you, you wouldn't feel so bad about yourself. I guess it's more of an ego thing. |

| Motion City Soundtrack – The Weakends Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This is how I heard it: "Last rights every Friday night, Am I weaker with the lights on?" I'm certain that "last rights" is correct but I don't know for sure about the second line. |

| Motion City Soundtrack – A Life Less Ordinary (Need a Little Help) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I thought I'd contribute the first interpretation... I think this song is about friends and associates trying to help out but coming across as attacking and condescending even though they don't mean to, and feeling like they're all against you. Sometimes it might feel easier to drown in "quick sand" than to take on board what these people are saying. And finally you realise things and figure things out, but you still need the help from those same people. It seems like a thank you to me. |

| I'm pretty sure it was 'blues' and not 'booze' because it definitely sounds like it and it also makes more sense. "Residual booze" doesn't really make much sense, whereas "residual blues" can describe a state in which there's still a slight feeling of depression. | |
| Motion City Soundtrack – Skin and Bones Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
A mellow and somewhat depressing outlook on the negative idea of life. "What if there's nothing more to us, we're just carbon-based, we're just pixie dust?" We've all been there and wondered the same thing. Once again Justin relates to all of us... |

| Motion City Soundtrack – Disappear Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Yeah I think it's about the option of disappearing and floating along, or (the message being) deciding to actually do something and get out there. It's probably related to what Justin's been through in his life, as can be quite typical with his lyrics. I do love his lyrics, but I feel like this album is generally much more cryptic than the brutal honesty he put into the other albums. I don't think anybody could write a break-up song better than Justin Pierre. |

Ha yes I love the Zelda reference. Unfortunately this song is something I can relate to from my school years, despite having since grown apart from the 'geeks' into someone considered quite different from that cliché. Brilliant song, probably my favourite chorus off the album. |

| Motion City Soundtrack – Stand Too Close Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Disappear isn't one of my favourites even though I think it's one of the better songs off the album. Stand Too Close is probably my favourite due to its originality and @!#?@! is probably my second favourite. | |

"not that we're perfect ?" I'm pretty sure it's: "not that we're perfect, merely extra perfect" Also, "we all feel the weather in the hours of disconnect." should be: "that we all feel the weathering hours of disconnect." And..."That we may feel the ?" should be: "That we may fear the litmus test" But I don't know what the line after it is because he kind of screams it =D |

"Except that time you put" should be: "Except that tiny bit" |

| Motion City Soundtrack – Can't Finish What You Started Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
My interpretation of this song (rightly or wrongly) is that it is to do with relationships. I'm probably wrong but it works very well if you apply it to a relationship that's drifting in the wind. I love this bit: "I think I've known it for a long time Suffice to say, it's been a while You're too afraid to face the outcome; Quite likely you're a failure It's a shitty thing to say, But hey man, the clock is ticking" It makes me reflect on my own relationship. I've known for a long time it's not working, but I'm too afraid to face the outcome, too afraid to end the story. It certainly is a shitty thing to say but the clock is ticking and I'm wasting my life in the meantime. Brilliant song though, as is the whole album. I hope My Dinosaur Life is as good, but from the sounds of it it's going to be heavier. |

Cheers ojuice, what you said definitely seems correct. bateman, you missed just one line: "A cast that's spinning 'round" Should be "Who can't stop spinning 'round" I think anyway, I could be wrong. |

http://www.codehook.com/music/detoxVOX.mp3 I uploaded that so you can hear the vocals much clearer. This is what I thought they were (corrections within *'s): ------ *She's saying* you're lost She thinks it's time for you to detox Too many tunes inside your head Why don't you fill it up with her instead She's not playing But you are She wants her man But you want guitars You have a song like you prefer But you should have lent your ears to her You're an attitude of audio A chronic record lover Who *feels inside* the stereo Just like the meat You eat The booze You choose The nicotine The coffee And the *sugars* that you need, so You're not ready for detox Turn on the radio Turn on the radio It's not healthy You're not fit She says if you don't quit Then she splits She needs silence And not your noise Your habit's nothing she enjoys And you're not offering any kind of sound (*this line sounds wrong to me*) A chronic vinyl player *Who can't stop* spinning round Just like the meat You eat The booze You choose The nicotine The coffee And the *sugars* that you need, so You're not ready for detox Turn on the radio Turn on the radio Turn on the radio Just like the meat You eat The booze You choose The nicotine The coffee And the *sugars* that you need, so You're not ready for detox Turn on the radio Just like the meat You eat The booze You choose The nicotine The coffee And the *sugars* that you need, so You're not ready for detox Turn on the radio Turn on the radio Turn on the radio... |
