I Set My Friends On Fire – Things That Rhyme With Orange Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is about the desire for acceptance, but I think it's not about an individual in a school setting. Instead, perhaps it's about ISMFOF's critical reception. This song is a big middle finger to all of the critics out there.

"It has to be a unanimous determination,
Because one opinion would be a pointless appreciation."

Their album just got tanked by most major critics, but there have been some outliers. I would agree with them and say that ISMFOF is very progressive and... just plain good. I'm glad that they put out a song that stands up for them and their musical paradigm.

Incubus – Mexico Lyrics 17 years ago
I listen to this song when I'm frustrated about my roommate. We live in a dormitory, so it's really difficult to get any privacy and it really allows those who room together to see each other's 'true colors', as it were. Well, he leaves me quite frustrated because he is a fairly selfish individual. At the same time, this song reminds me to practice modesty and selflessness, because those on the other end of selfishness just dislike it.

Minus the Bear – The Pig War Lyrics 17 years ago
This song seems like it has a lot of what Hemingway was feeling when he wrote "The Sun Also Rises". The guy loves a girl but he's not able to commit because of some reason. When I say commit, I don't mean emotionally entangle himself with her, I mean... consummate, I guess. He hasn't danced in so long, he wants her to slow down, because he has been so worried to fall in love. Oh well, silly I guess, but the wind, like a cold hand on the neck, is driving him forward.

Minus the Bear – I'm Totally Not Down with Rob's Alien Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song (like a lot of Minus the Bear's songs) stem from some literary influence in their lives today. The influence I see in this song comes from "The Awakening". This woman gets some semblance of independence from her family who is vacationing, and it opens up her eyes and mind from the turn-of-the-century morality and mentality she was forced into. Because she couldn't cope with it, she swims out into the sea and drowns, but she drowns in like a last moment of glory because of the freedom of swimming.

Well, he's experiencing that glory by swimming out, or being alone and experiencing that independence from his family.

Is this song in Goodbye, Lenin! as well? I was watching it the other day and I could've sworn it was... I can't remember when, bt I could've thought so...

Sigur Rós – Samskeyti Lyrics 18 years ago
This song brings so many emotions up... it's a truly majestic piece of work. I think choosing not to use any real vocals in this song just adds to the universality of it... the song itself is warm and inviting, and ultimately it seems appropriate only for rejoicing and loving and living.
