I'm wrong but the "I fell asleep in the alkaline" part to me sounds like "I'll find sleep in the end tonight." That would make sense after him talking about not sleeping. has anyone noticed how much Brand New's music has changed? The style and the way the lyrics are written, I mean. Saw them play 2 days ago, Jesse came out in a rain coat and i wanted to sleep to the music he was playing. |

I agree with the person who was saying that it may be about his relationship between him and his father. but then again the name of the song is "the boy who blocked his own shot" and these lyrics "hope you find out what you want, i already know what i am... "you can tell me how vile, i already know that i am" could be about him and his girlfriend moving their own separate ways but still keeping in touch and they dont want to admit they still have feelings for eachother. |

I can't even listen to this song anymore=\. The cheap sex, being used, the painful truth, the last touch and the uneven feelings shared between 2 people. when he talks about tiny vessels, he's talking about the hickeys left on her neck that made her look cheap but she may not have cared because it's a certain something that reminds her of him, that's why she didn't want them to fade... FYI the lyrics are wrong. It's "you're beautiful, you BLEW it WHY?", I think. That would make sense seeing that it sounds as if shes's cheated on him. My X left me on valentines, and moved away without saying goodbye after cheating on me... and he's trying to say that he's built up self repect to let it go(even after 6 long months of trusting) by telling himself that she's just a whore who will sleep with anyone. |

Must I say they played well at the armory last night, they were very experimental with their music... but this song is about him finally having the guts to break down to her about how he feels towards her and how their relationship ended. How he winds up so weak and she winds up so strong and it doesn't really phase her. It's killing him how he would do anything to be with her ("it's only you beautiful") but she doesn't feel the same. he's so in love that he'd be willing to let her use him in any way just to know shes's still there after all shes's done to him. "I'm here for you to use...broken and bruised" (I don't know is I'm just trying to relate to this song with what I'm going through) also, "how could I miscalculate? perfect eyes will have perfect aim." saying that how could he be so dumb, this has happened to him before, can could he let it happen again? |

| I'm agreeing that the TBS fued is broughten up way too much. I'm also thinking that Adam(TBS) doesn't write his lyrics, that it was another band member (john Nolan) that slept with Jesse's gf. okay so people need to stop saying how much they love these songs and start analyzing what they mean... I've heard this song is about a mother getting re-married, her daughter being the flower-girl. (i.e)"Get your petals out and lay them in the aisle" and on the way home there was an accident where her daughter was killed and decapitated...(i.e)"My baby's frequency not strong enough Her head in my hands and smiling." And from the mothers point of veiw shes guilty she didn't ride with her daughter. "i have one more night to be your mother" |
