Sounds good to me, NoPaperclips. I also am a Christian, and I also think this song is pretty cool. The lyrics.... not exactly sure. At first, it sounds like she's looking for the Truth, God. It sounds like she must have been hurt by someone who was a Christian, and she's just letting it out by saying "Salvation you have preached is gone..." Yet, she's still looking for the "higher ground." So she sounds angry, and she wants help. I don't know. Not really sure. |

Obviously, this is a pretty deep song, and no one can agree on what it really is about. We do know, for the most part, that he is battling depression. Here's my theory: The singer is definately troubled, crying out to someone for help. I believe he's calling to a Higher Power, which I believe is God. The lyrics can all somehow be related to Christianity. "Take this life... Stay a while and breathe me in." When God brought the first person to life (you know, Adam), He breathed his breath into Adam, bringing death to life. It sounds as if the singer is struggling to believe whether God is there or not. With the weight of depression, the singer is calling to God waiting for an answer. Sounds like he's saying, "If you are there, God, renew my thoughts, take this pain away!" I know, In Flames isn't listed as Christian or anything. I also read those quotes that were posted from the lead singer. They were interesting. Here's what I think: I am kind of a song writer, and when I write lyrics, I write what I feel in a more artistic way, not straight out "I'm depressed and need help." That's exactly what this singer is doing. If my theory is true, I think that the singer isn't straight out saying "God, help me!" for the sake of not being listed on a Christian label. He could say the songs mean one thing through an interview, but they could totally mean something else in his mind. Well, that was a mouthful. Please, don't go attacking me or anything. Just stating my opinion. :D |
