well i've heard both versions of the song now: i think its about a girl who tends to adapt to be likable to whoever she's with. in the other version: "She don't know who she is, Oh,I can take her anywhere, Do whatever comes naturally to you," he can take her anywhere because she'll just fit in with everyone. "But I always thought I would end up with you eventually," perhaps he tried to break up with her but then they ended up back together? "Now I see her again, I have to be a hummingbird, Whisper words in her ear, Oh, You know I just don't care, You know she just don't care," Just the meaningless of the relationship. Neither of them care, perhaps its they're just getting back together because of familiarity and its easier then starting something new? "Say whatever comes into your head Oh, oh you know I just don’t care" once again, he just doesn't care very much. she's just kind of there. she adapts to whoever she's with and it doesn't matter to him whether she's there or not. |

i agree with ian.peean about the city being blurry cause he'd been drinking. hmmm i think it might be about him thinking that a friend of his is trying to take his girlfriend so he realizes that he doesn't like the friend... cause he's trying to take his girlfriend and he says "And catch you out if I can on the other side of my sofa" as in he wants to catch him trying to get the girl to cheat. etc. |

you say you're still in love if it's true what can be done it's hard to leave all those moments behind instead of the happy moments, he could also be talking about bad times when they were fighting, etc. as in, she says she's still in love with him, and even if its true he can't do anything about it because they have so many bad memories between them. |

| This song hits incredibly close to home. A guy and me recently had a month long relationship, though not official, and then we ended it for a variety of reasons. However, I'm totally that girl in that I keep trying to become friends with him but I can tell he feels really awkward about the whole thing. Trying so hard has really been hurting me lately but I guess I see where he's coming from now. I've been acting exactly like the girl in this song (minus the interpreted cheating) and I have realized that I really should stop. I know be both still have somewhat feelings for eachother, which is just making it awkward. | |
