| personally i think that this song is about someone who had a goal, something he wanted to do or become, clear in mind and he "traveled far and burned all the bridges" to his past to achieve this goal. Now however, he is working in a record store and hes asking himself what hes doing there. He believed when he set out that nothing would stand in his way to achieve what he was out to achieve (All the other options held before me Will wither in the light of my plan). Now he finds himself in a dead end job and questioning his motives for coming to this place. He is looking for a song for someone who needs something to long for because he cant go back to where he used to be because he burned all the bridges and he doesnt know where to go. He is stuck in between and is homesick because he cant go back, and he has no were to go forward to. | |
