Thanks guys. I agree, hpman, they are the best band in the world. I get picked on for how much I listen to them... The more and more I listen to Big Whisky, the more it does resonate with me. I keep finding little bits of songs that grab me. Cheers. |

Meh, I kinda think the man does want a relationship/faith. He constantly references God/Jesus/Christ, and yes, they are often in dualistic terms, but who of us dosnt feel that way? We cant fully grasp a thing so complex as God/Christianity, even when we study it, and so we struggle with where to place our hearts. Its a tightrope and its easy to lean toward either side, yet still stay on course. Take:

Though it sounds sarcastic, I think what he might really be saying is something as simple as, spare me the lesson, Im not the one who needs it. Could be wayyy off base. But thats why we love DMB! |

Not right or wrong... One kid walks ten miles to school, another's dropping out... Diplomacy, gotta love them for that. Love the lyrics to this one, but cant help feeling a bit underwhelmed by this CD. Usually I take to their stuff straight away, on this one, I didnt experience that. Anyone else find they had to give it a few tries before it really took rout? |

I love this song, but Im lost on the meaning. "open up your eyes to the things around you... this time, you can feel his voice and hes never gonna stop till it sinks in deeply" could easily be talking about God, but then whats with the "falling, consecrated lies" part? Thats clearly not talking about God. Any ideas? |
