| Panic! at the Disco – But It's Better If You Do Lyrics

oh and i might add it doesnt have to apply just to a lapdance literally, it could just be a relationship where he feels she is using him for sex/power/whatever and hes using her to feel wanted and so he's sort of trapped even though he knows he's being silly, he can't stop it. but it feels degrading for him...like a lapdance - im guessing lol |

i think this is well like the situation in closer - where clive owens character larry feels really unloved and stuff and he goes to this stripclub and finds alice, and wants ehr to love him. he feels pathetic because he's "praying for love in a lapdance", and is also in a bit of denial "i wouldnt be caught dead in this place" er..."isnt this exactly where you like me" reflects his paranoia that alice is enjoying the power she has over him |

nono people its all about a girl going into prostitution for the first time, with a lawyer - whos like somebody high up in soceity - so i think its showing that even the intelligent well paid people do this. and the constable is involved somehow, so thats like the abuse of trust as him being a police officer? its showing how bent stuff is. and like, the lawyers wife finds her husbands condoms "purse of a different kind" and thats how she finds out about him. the raindrops on roses is trying to give you ideas of innocence and hes saying how the innocence is lost in prostitution basically. but yeh |

no no no! it's:
"standing by the broken tree
her hands are all twisted,
she's pointing at me
i was damned by the light coming all around
she spoke with a voice that
disrupted the sky
she said 'walk on over, yeah
to this bitter shade,
i will wrap you in my arms'
she said 'let me sign'"
how can you get it so wrong! Duh! |

well i agree that it could be about amreica, but i think it's also a love song, and he's comparing her to 'losing' america maybe? it's like saying she's his home which is so sweet, and i think thats why its in twilight. |

| David Bowie – Life on Mars? Lyrics

i think it can mean alot of things, but mostly it's like slating soceity: "take a look at the law man". it's taking the piss out of everything - the media, the law - and the repetitiion of "life on mars" and the importance the line is given by being the title surely suggests bowie is ridiculing it all in a way?
he's trying to put across how everythings going a bit weird (hence the weirdness of the song) and soceity is getting crooked/insane.
but generally its about life, and the girl is looking kind of into her future, to the "freaky show" that is life. the facts she's "lived it ten times or more" suggests (to me) kind of the media and films and songs being repetitive and cliched and everyone living their lives through films? i don't know if that makes sense but i know what i mean!
anyway generally i think he's pissed off that the world is changing so much but not always for the better, and life isn't always fair. but it's proper vague, which is good cos it means something to everyone that way. |

| U2 – With or Without You Lyrics

i love this song.
hmm. i dont really agree with the whole god thing. tbh i think the significance of him saying "she" is that it contrasts with the "you" being so personal and like he's talking straight to her. so using she is like making it less personal and so maybe refering to a side of her he isn't comfortable with or doesn't like. (with or without you also showing the contrast). he says "she" when he's talking to her hurting him like the "bed of nails" and "my body bruised" so obviously he doesn't like the way she hurts him and doesn't feel like thats the person he's in love with. i think thats alright, but its such a vaugue song it can apply to everything and thats why so many people love it. |

even though "i'm down on my knees" sounds really sexual, i think it just means she's comparing him to god (yes this is where LIKE comes in) and saying he's godly and angelic like she is throughout the song. come on, people! |

yeah i think its definitely about someone she loves dying. or maybe even her dying and singing to the people she loves, but promising she'll meet them again :) but i think its quite a simple song, so people can interpret it whatever way they want. i definitely love this version of it xo |

| The Wombats – Kill The Director Lyrics

...but i still love this song! I think he feels like he's some sort of actor in a soap (obviously) because everythings so ironic and typical. he probably feels like he's the typical guy who always fancies the girl but she never even looks at him. Normally, though in the end it all works out, so he feels like the "director" is cheating him, and he deserves a happy ending. I think this is a great song as so many people can relate to it. |

I agree with johnny,
i think they're trying to give the impression that it's a big alien invasion but thats just elaborating on the end of the world theme, and that the answers were there all along - cos its not aliens its people that are the cause of it. I think (like someone said above) that "your answers were always lying on the ocean bed" is referring to oil and so pollution ect, aswell as "natives destroying our earth" which also shows its people not aliens that are doing this. The rest I think is just to make it more dramatic, keeping the "end of the world" theme. Thats my impression, anyway. |

they didn't play this in southamptom. Gutted. I love this song. I think its about knowing your about to die, and realising you never really left a mark and that you won't be remembered. Thats my opinion anyways x |
