At first, when they were broken up with, they didn't want it to be true.. but it turned out it was for the better. When they watched them leave, they were so hurt and never thought they'd be okay, but eventually they were fine, and that's what those lyrics are saying. Very powerful, I love this song. Describes a lot for me right now. |

ahh, love this song. as everyone else said, the meaning is obvious... it's about having the one and they're all you want/dream about/think about, and you love them and feel there's no other and you could never live without them. staind's always been one of my favorite bands, their songs are great. i think this is now my favorite one. |

This song is just, wow. It's from a little while ago but right now it fits for me perfectly.
I think this song is about moving on from someone you still love. In the beginning of the song he talks about being their fool, and he has to resist the temptation of being with them again, but yet he wonders if someone is getting the best of them, if they are loving someone like they once loved him. He wants to keep trying and hold onto them, but he keeps fighitng it. By the end he is moving on. "I'm no fool. I'm getting tired of starting again somewhere new". Maybe that is saying everytime he tries to be with someone new they are nothing like the person he truly loves, so it fails and he's back to loving them. So he needs to let go or he'll be in the same spot every time.

this i have to say is my favorite song. the lyrics are so powerful. I know what this song is about (his son and all), but to me this song is about something different. Two people who were in love, had a great relationship, then it ends, and it caused him great pain. The person moves away, and where they live they feel like they don't belong, and they miss their love and wishes to be with them again, because they were happy and feel hurt and lonely without them. |

this is an old song but I lately I've been feeling a lot when I heart it. To me it's about a lost love, probably an ex who you think is the one. they're no longer in you're life because maybe you've drifted apart from them or they moved. but you know they're "somewhere out there" and you hope you'll be back together with them some day.

To me this song is about looking to the past in regret. Missing certain things and wondering why you're still suffocating and nothing better has come yet. Okay, I know for a fact this song was about Isaac and his brother getting in a fight and all, but, this is how I look at the song based on experience in life and stuff...
I think this song is about a love relationship that ended up badly, also while other minor things are going wrong in his life. First verse- He realizes everything is 'falling through' and he seeks for help from his friends/family, but no one seems to be there for him. He's apathetic because he's not getting answers or the help he wants.. and he wants to run away, rather than figure out who his real friends are and are actually there when times get rough for him. Chorus- He's in over his head about the whole situation.. doesn't know what to do and his thinking too deeply but still can't figure it out. And the girl is still on his mind, no matter how hard he tries to forget her. Second verse- He wants to straighten things out with the girl and get things back to how they were, and he's thinking it would be easier if they could be strangers and not know each other at all anymore. They find new people and try to move on with life and they grew apart from each other. ('canyon comes between') Third verse- As time goes on he's saying he's just becoming a part of her memory that she'll soon forget and she's getting further and further away from him and there's nothing he can do about it. They lose sight of the ground in which they once had together, where everything felt right. And he's saying he won't let go of it until he knows for sure what happened between them. |
