Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit Lyrics 16 years ago
First verse talk about doing stupid shit for the sake of not caring about anything, whatsoever. "I know a dirty word"
-A way to describe this scenery
"Hello, how low"-Kind of like, 'Hey! How depressed are you feeling today?"

"With the lights out, it's less dangerous, here we are now, entertain us, I feel stupid and contagious, here we are now, entertain us"-Basically, 'I'm a narcissistic teen spreading my negative emotion' With the lights out-Not facing reality, perhaps thinking Nihlistically.

"A mullato, an albino, a mosquito, my libido" -Like a mosquito, the narrator's libido is draining his spirit, like a mosquito sucks blood. Mullato represents some essence, and albino represents further lack of essence.
His libido is draining his spirit.

Nirvana – Come As You Are Lyrics 16 years ago
"Come as you are" This is a warm, inviting sign that can be posted on churches or restaurants. "As you were"-A military command basically meaning, 'outta my sight and get back to what you were doing'. "As I want you to be" is how the narrator truly feels, because the other ones oxymoronically canceled each other out. So, "Come as I want you to be" and "as friend". I want you to be a friend. "as a trend" A friend is trend in the narrators view, common enough for most people. For this part the lyric is actually, "as a known enemy", not as an old enemy. Kurt Cobain was once quoted, "a friend is nothing but a known enemy."
"Take your time, hurry up, the choice is yours, don't be late, take a rest as a friend" Take a rest as a friend is what the narrator wants most from the person he is talking to, because the other phrases cancel out like the ones before. "As an old memoria" Tells the friend to rest, identifies the friend as an old memoria. Let's his memory rest.

That's one interpretation of the first verse, anyway.

Nirvana – Drain You Lyrics 16 years ago
I think it's about being in love and high. Furthermore, I also think it's one of the most poetic and disgusting love songs. Kind of like loving so much, that persons spirit is being drained, like the lovers are parasites off of each other. I find the chorus particularly disgusting, but don't get me wrong, not revolting. I really like the lyrics as well as the music. "A travel through a tube and end up in your infection." Coital interactions. I don't think "infection" refers to STD s, but it could if you want. You know how they say the inside organs of a vagina look like a dying orchid (heart shaped box, meat-eating orchids)? Well, I think the dying orchid is the infection. The word "infection" also just gives another disgusting take on this love scene. Oh yeah, "through the tube", possibly a drug reference also.

"With eyes so dilated, I've become you're pupil" Intriguing play on words there.
"Taught me everything without a poison apple" Bible, genesis, Adam and Eve. Protected me from evil, basically.

"Vacuum out the fluids" I think the narrator's asking for a blow job.
Again, the most sickly poetic, strange love song.

Nirvana – On a Plain Lyrics 16 years ago
Yeah, there's many ways too interpret songs, but I think this one is definitely based on Kurt's own narcissism; obviously he didn't care that he only cared about himself because he wrote the song himself. "Love myself better than you, I know it's wrong, so what should I do?" Saying he doesn't really care about someone than asking for their opinion, only to disregard it.

"Finest day I've ever had, is when I learned to cry on command" -so he could get what he wanted. (These lyrics aren't necessarily fact, they could just be supporting the ideals of a narcissist.)

"I'm on a plain, I can't complain" -Narrator has no reason to be understood because no one wants to listen (can't complain), he's by himself, on a desolate "plain".

"My mother died, every night, it's safe to say, don't quote me on that." Narrator secretly wants people to spread the tragic gossip and pathetically get sympathy.

"The black sheep got blackmailed again/ forgot to put on the zip code" 'Forgot to put on th zip code' is the deceptive excuse for unintentionally doing something wrong to benefit one's self. Intriguing play on words: Zip code and black MAIL.

"Somewhere I have heard this before/ In a dream or memory stored" Someone's telling him something for the second time and he wasn't paying attention the first time.

"As a defense I'm neutered or spayed/What the hell am I trying to say?" -His own excuses for fucking other people over don't even make sense to him.

Love my interpretation better than yours, I know it's wrong, so what should I do?

Nirvana – All Apologies Lyrics 16 years ago
All right, I personally don't care who the song is about. I conveys a feeling that most of us can connect with-A mixture of guilt and melancholy.
"Aqua sea foam shame"
He feels guilty, and that feeling goes with the riff. The riff make me feel guilt just when I hear it. Really, whatever inspired it, or whoever, it all comes down to one thing for this song: sorrowful emotions.

Nirvana – In Bloom Lyrics 16 years ago
All right, this song could be interpreted an infinite amount of ways, so I'll choose the one I connect with. Keep in mind that Kurt said his songs are "pretty much about nothing", and that he intentionally left them open for interpretation, so we'll never know completely what they meant to him, because it's possible he didn't. Nonetheless, the paint a picture, accommodate the music, and are intriguing.

My Interpretation:

"Sell the kids for food" -Drastic measures for self-survival

-We are cognizant to the fact that the world exists, so we recognize that we exist. Recognition of emotion is key to the recognition of life itself. Simply put,
"Weather changes moods".

"Spring is here again" -Monotony

"Reproductive glands" -Spring time is the season of sex for wildlife. Instead of viewing the creation of life as beautiful, this line doesn't necessarily make it sound disgusting, but just takes the beauty out of the thought of new life; I see the song as just a general disappreciation for life, habits of nature, and existence.

"We can have some more, nature is a whore; bruises on the fruit, tender age in bloom"

Comparison between nature and a whore. Hates life. "We can have some more": Just keep taking and taking, because you can ("nature is a whore") Bruises on the fruit (Whore reference, abused nature)
"Tender age in bloom"-After this generation, its all going to happen all over again: More monotony.

And the chorus is about a guy that enjoys life for the simple pleasures, therefore has no idea what this very song is about: Hating life in general.
So, is it better to think a lot and get depressed, or enjoy life for the simple values?
