I take this song much more seriously then "boy likes girl, girl has boyfriend." I wish some people knew more about how true, and how painful these feelings are. In the live version, Jason's voice cracks and has this humge sigh at the beginning. I think he really feels this song. Ok, what it means. A guy and girl have been best friends for years. When they are older, he realizes he really likes her, but is afraid of telling her. As time goes on, his feelings grow stronger and eventualy is in love with her. His "double life" is being best friends with her, and then secretly in love with her. He know's he can't tell her because he could be "risking it all." He wants her to figure out he really is the one. They "go on for hours on end" and they "get along much better than her and her boyfriend." He wants to be with her so much and just really wants to love her but everytime he sees her he can't say anything "he missed his chance again." I always miss my chance. I don't wnat ot risk it all, but my double life makes me sick. |

again. it makes me cry. to me, this song relates. i take it as a guy whose best friend is a girl. shes always there for him whenever anything is spinning out of control. shes always there to listen and shes always there through all the guys relationships. and this is where i switch it around in my case, the girl is just pleading for him to see her. to see shes always been there and to see that shes the one. hurry up and wait my heart is starting to separte. this is the one that hits me. hurts. it seems shes been waiting waiting for him to see and her heart is really starting to separate. |

This song is just unbelievebly..real.i agree with the pastor. i think its a guy who went out with a bunch of people. none that were truely right for him. and then all that time there was one girl. one whos always been with him since they were young. best friends. shes always there but he never realized that shes the one. maybe you want her maybe you need her maybe you're starting to compare this makes me cry everytime i hear it. he does need her and he does want her. but everytime shes there. he just starts to compare and think about someone else. and all that time. the girl is truely in love with him. |
