I agree with intoodeep. what's the worst thing that could happen? is my back all that bad? I think this means she wants him to initiate their sexual encounters with foreplay (like a sensual massage for instance), and be more affectionate and loving. strike the match and watch the doll come open Strike the match and light a candle to set the mood. She wants romance and passion out of him, but he only sees her as a sexual object... essentially no different than a blow-up doll. Like intoodeep said, her pleasure means nothing to him. He's taking what he can get out of her because she's offering it, though she's doing it in the hopes that other feelings will develop. It's the only way she can really be close to him at this point, and she too is taking what she can get out of him... even though it's tearing her up inside. Sad song :( Lovely though |

Okay, what I originally interpreted it as is a bit different than most others'. Thanks ehwhalen for posting that information, by the way. What I first assumed the song was about was this: he observed a little girl and her mother, and felt like he wanted a child of his own. Ever see a really cute kid, and wish you had a little girl or boy like that? Well, he takes it a bit too far, and starts fantasizing that he's the actual father, wondering if his "wife" thinks about him, wondering if she jogs in the mornings... he wants the details he's missing out on. Originally, I thought it was delightfully creepy in a depressing way. But apparently he has a biological child... huh. Well, good information. It makes it much sadder. As for the Biblical references... The Virgin Mary was married to Joseph, a carpenter, who did not leave her after she became pregnant. I think it refers to Joseph more than Jesus, like in At Conception. Sierra could be his twinkling North Star, guiding him home and to salvation. Just speculation. |
