| Godsmack – Whiskey Hangover Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I gotta tell ya, as an alcoholic (and a DAMNED proud one at that) . . . I really like this song. It kinda reminds me of how much I enjoy being me (that is to say, a drinker). | |
| Marilyn Manson – Little Horn Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| . . . HAH HAH HA!!! Now I'll never be able to hear this song without imagining a little kitten! | |

On a side note, between two of the songs from their Dallas show last weekend, they played this track for about ten seconds. Wish I could remember the two songs. |

| Marilyn Manson – Count to Six and Die (The Vacuum of Infinite Space Encompassing) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| That's what attracted me to Manson in the first place. He's a storyteller. This song is an ending, whether she kills herself or not. | |
| Marilyn Manson – 15 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I bought a shirt at the Dallas show that had, on the back, an "M M" with a 15 interposed at the top and the Antichrist Superstar bolt going through it. Just food for thought. |

| Marilyn Manson – Four Rusted Horses Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I'm thinking this may be as much to the fans as the critics. "Everyone will come to my funeral to make sure that I stay dead." The fans expect a certain kind of Manson and a certain kind of show. As he stated in the Reflecting God, "Each thing I show you is a piece of my death." His show, his art, this public showing of what is deep and personal to him is in a way a prolonged funeral. And fans and critics alike expect that of him and will go to see that he is still what they expect him to be. |

| Marilyn Manson – We're From America Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| As an American, I'd say you are 1/2 right. Therefore, do a little more research (maybe 50% more) before you start writing. K? | |
| Marilyn Manson – Leave A Scar Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| The first song of the album that leaped into my mind and stuck. Fantast-a-fucking-ic! I'd put it next to The Speed of Pain, in my book. The song says more than I ever could. | |
| Marilyn Manson – Devour Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I LOVE how it cuts off at the end. That's life. You may love, but the object of your affection, no matter how much you may believe in that love, may not want you at all. I know that. |
|
| Marilyn Manson – 15 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Yeah, I read too much (drunk) into it. He's grown as his own individual; he is no longer the Antichrist Superstar. I still love this song, and album. | |
| Marilyn Manson – The Nobodies Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
When you're a worm and you don't think you can get through it, the media is there to ensure that they will know your name, that you will live on in some way, that people will know you existed. That you can be a Somebody. Manson's reasoning as to why school shootings occur. |

| Marilyn Manson – Antichrist Superstar Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| "In a stronger age than this decaying, self-doubting present, he must yet come to us, the redeeming man, of great love and contempt, the creative spirit whose compelling strength will not let him rest in any aloofness or any beyond, whose isolation is misunderstood by the people as if it were flight from reality - while it is only his absorption, immersion, penetration into reality, so that, when he does one day emerge again into the light, he may bring home the redemption of this reality; its redemption from the curse that the hitherto reigning ideal has laid upon it. The Man of the Future, who will redeem us not only from the hitherto reigning ideal but also from that which was bound to grow from it, the Great Nausea, the Will to Nothingness, Nihilism; This bell-stroke of noon and of the great decision that liberates the will again and restores its goal to the Earth and his hope to man; This Antichrist and Antinihilist; This victor over God and nothingness - He must come one day." | |
| Marilyn Manson – Devour Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I love the way it ends: "I'll love you if you won't make me sto-" Then it ends. She makes him stop. |
|
| Marilyn Manson – Blank And White Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think its about American life through its television and, as an example, American Idol. Listen to the track again with that in mind. I'll defend my position when I come off the bourbon. | |
| Marilyn Manson – 15 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
. . . Wow. The first time I heard it I almost broke down in tears. And almost shat my trousers. * takes a deep breath * I think this song is a statement that he's back from the Abyss and he's ready to fulfill the duties of THE Antichrist, not the Antichrist Superstar. Nietzsche said of THE Antichrist (as opposed to plain old ordinary Antichrists, like ourselves) that: "In a stronger age than this decaying, self-doubting present, he must yet come to us, the redeeming man, of great love and contempt, the creative spirit whose compelling strength will not let him rest in any aloofness or any beyond, whose isolation is misunderstood by the people as if it were flight from reality - while it is only his absorption, immersion, penetration into reality, so that, when he does one day emerge again into the light, he may bring home the redemption of this reality; its redemption from the curse that the hitherto reigning ideal has laid upon it. The Man of the Future, who will redeem us not only from the hitherto reigning ideal but also from that which was bound to grow from it, the Great Nausea, the Will to Nothingness, Nihilism; This bell-stroke of noon and of the great decision that liberates the will again and restores its goal to the Earth and his hope to man; This Antichrist and Antinihilist; This victor over God and nothingness - He must come one day." Manson's autobiography begins with this quote, but did even he know what it meant for him? For us all? I think this song is a statement. Girls and Boys it is quite clear: The Antichrist is HERE. In the song: "If you don't know what forever feels like/I'll show you what it feels like without it." (I will remove your afterlife, your immortality, your religion, as befits the role of the Antichrist). In the song: "If you can hear this/ don't assume that I'm talking to you." (To open his work The Antichrist, Nietzsche begins by saying the book is for certain individuals and they will know who they are. They are Hyperboreans and Antichrists. Manson is speaking to the rest of humanity in this song). In the song: "This time I won't hesitate/ to kill to protect what I believe in." (He's in it to win it. No more distractions, he knows now what he is). In the song: "Not letting you win/ won't satisfy me." (He's going for the jugular). In the song: "I can get by now/ I'm not really dead/ but i really needed someone to save me/ leaving me alone to die/ is worse than having the guts to kill me." (I'm no longer the Man you know. I have a reason to keep living and I just needed to be fucked over enough to see it. They saved me, though they left me to die. Now the whole world will suffer from how I've grown). That suffering will be brought about by the vacuum left in the wake of the death of Christianity. Might be grasping at straws. And bourbon, but I call it like I see it. |

| Marilyn Manson – Lunchbox Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
To me, this is one of the few Manson songs that is blatant in it's meaning. Here's a kid who's picked on and bullied and wants to rise above all of that. He identifies with his childhood heroes, rock-and-roll stars so that's what he wants to grow up to be. And he isn't gonna take crap from anyone again. Very inspirational. |

| Marilyn Manson – Organ Grinder Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
That's a reference to Manson's scarification. Plainly stated: He carves on his body to give himself scars. "My prison skin's an eyesore-" He hates what he sees when he sees himself. "-mirror-" It shows others what he sees when he . . . "sketchpad." . . . cuts himself. He wrote in his autobiography that, to him, nothing is more attractive to him than beauty disfigured (paraphrased). In summary, I think the song is about how he shows one thing and is something else. What he shows is hated by many (parents for example) but loved by others (their kids). But, despite it all, he is actually something that even fans could not even handle. Maybe an unintentional foreshadowing of his celebrity days, i.e., Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals, etc, which turned him into a household name (because maybe he began to remove the mask?). |

| Marilyn Manson – Get Your Gunn Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
To me this little story has two meanings: 1.) The singer points out the hypocrisy of people who preach life and also take it away. They are lairs and fakes and the narrator will have none of them. 2.) The singer is warning us about becoming that which we hate, as the singer references hating and scaring himself. The people he loathes are so hateful that he becomes a reflection of that hate and anger and in the process damages himself. Hate too much and that's all you become. "I hate therefore I am." Hate these people, but don't become them. Also, he says he's doing things just because they do not do them. That's blind hatred. |

| Marilyn Manson – Dogma Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
It's about dogmatic people who claim to be saying and doing what they say and do out of love, but in reality, they are hateful and evil people. The woman screaming, I think, is a woman accused of being a witch, captured and tortured by the Witch Finders. Despite her unnerving screams and moans, she remains indignant throughout and THAT gives me inspiration. You can even hear her cursing her tormentors! "You cannot sedate all the things you hate/rape." Try though you may, motherfuckers, you will not break my spirit. You will NOT make that which you hate go away. The bridge burning comment means that they will never apologize as they have burned the last route back to decent humanity. As for the stitches comment, they have cut us (and themselves) and will never try to repair that wrong. That's what it says to me. |

| Marilyn Manson – Long Hard Road Out Of Hell Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think it's about someone in a bad place because they made their own decisions and how this person is looking back the way they came from wondering if they made a mistake. That "Mary, Mary" part is the narrator saying aloud that they might not be strong enough to live with their choices (whether or not it was their choice, 'cause with Manson, it's almost always up for interpretation). Mary is a motherly figure who could make all the hurt go away. The way I feel when I hear the song is, for a few minutes at least, the way I felt as a young person leaving Christianity. There were times when, as an Atheist, I felt like I made a mistake, that all I had to do was repent and go back to church and I'd be saved from my misery (actually thought of lying and joining a church any ways so I could at least have some friends). Yes, isolation is Hell, but . . . It's a long hard road out of it. A road that does eventually have an end. And to a young person (or teenager) it always seems longer. Very, very cathartic. |

| Marilyn Manson – Dope Hat Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Erm . . . I just referenced Organ Grinder and said it was Dope Hat. "You cannot handle me." But, the two songs have a similar meaning, in ways. | |
| Marilyn Manson – Dope Hat Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
To me it seems to be about a performer who is struggling with who he is, feeling that ". . . you cannot handle me." He feels like some stage monkey dancing for a bunch of people who don't get how he's even able to get up there in the first place. "They fail to see the tragic turning into magic" means that they don't get how hard it is for him to perform because his material comes from deep personal experience. So, he turns to drugs to ease the pain and dull his senses enough to put on the show, but when he starts to show himself, his true self, "they seem to scream when darkness fills my eyes," meaning they cannot handle him. And that spurs more drug use. And since the drugs are beginning to control him, he feels that now his usage has become obvious. Sure, this song can be taken metaphorically, but, this is my more direct interpretation. It's great that he didn't take the Cobain route and off himself because people weren't listening to his stories. That's inspiration to me. |

| Marilyn Manson – Mister Superstar Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Not a lot I can say that hasn't already been said, but . . . In general, it's about obsessive fans. In the context of the story of the Antichrist Superstar, it's about one of the disadvantages of being a star. The obsessive fan is so in love with this icon who will never even know that he/she exists that said fan hates the object of their obsession. Love, after all, is as strong an emotion as it's sibling, hate. "I know that I can't turn you on/ I wish that I could turn you off/ I never wanted this." On a side note, when I hear "Hey Mister Superman. I want to be your little girl" I always imagine the Man of Steel standing with his chest out and Marilyn Manson dressed in a catholic school girl outfit and wrapped around his ankles. Hee hee. |

| Marilyn Manson – Tourniquet Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Yeah. I'd have to agree with Angelwitscabbedwngz . A tourniquet is something you put on a victim to stabilize them, but, it can never heal them. Can a bandage mend a broken bone? This guy wants to heal this damaged girl with his love but he isn't capable of it. He offers himself to be damaged by her as a sacrifice. All this does is hurt himself and, as a tourniquet, does nothing to heal her in the long run. Maybe its because he isn't strong enough yet. The flies had already laid their eggs, preordained that he could not help her as he wished to. Which is probably why this was one of the first tracks on the album, before the narrator worm became the Antichrist Superstar. Hhrm. |

| Marilyn Manson – Prelude (The Family Trip) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Ain't that the truth, Dead Girl! It may be too early for me to say, but it really does seem like this (eerie) piece is about our society and how it's circling the drain. Our apathy certainly isn't helping us, either. I just discovered this album a few days ago, so . . . Wish me luck . . . |

| Marilyn Manson – The Fight Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I concur. | |
| Marilyn Manson – The Love Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| That's a good point. A lot of people are either afraid of who they are or don't know who they are at all. Hell, I'm twenty-seven and I'm still trying to figure that out. It's even harder for teenagers, what with all the other problems they face. | |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Appels + Oranjes Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| At any rate, when I first listened to the album, only three songs really got my attention. This is one of them. One of the greatest joys of my life is asking questions, of everything, even if the questions themselves don't make sense. When lost, I've found myself by doing that very thing. | |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Appels + Oranjes Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
In response to simonhoyos: To me, the line "does that mean you've got to lose," coming after the line "What if what is isn't you?," is in a way an answer to that question. Assuming that you have no connection to what is (life, reality, society, family, etc) that does not mean it's the end of the line for you. The next line, again, to me, seems to be contemplative and instills just a tad bit of hope into me: "Digging for a feel of something new." Keep going and find something you can connect with. Keep digging untill you feel something! That something is a new thing. Kinda makes me want for new experiences. Like the kind that mark you indelibly. |
