| Altar Boys – I'm Into God Lyrics

This was the easiest and most "low cost" song the Altar Boys ever wrote and recorded, yet so many people defined the band by this one song. It's the quintessential, early 80's "Christian Cheerleading" song. We brought it back into the set list from time to time, but we stopped writing this kind of song after the second album. |

| Ric Alba – Rain in Amsterdam Lyrics

No secret messages or metaphors here. Threw some "working lyrics" together from stream of consciousness, remembering a trip to Amsterdam. Enough people liked the way the syllables sounded together, so producers Steve and Derald wanted them left alone. |

This was about stress, man. Below that surface though, is the question of why it has to be, that life on Earth should be so hard on people. I get it that life is supposed to be a test, but it should be testing our faith and our spirit----not our nerves. |

| Ric Alba – Heaven (Prelude) Lyrics

The piano on this makes me think, "Imagine there's a Heaven, It's easy if you try."
Originally, this was the beginning of a seven minute "Progressive Rock" song with separate movements and had the main title, "Holes in the Floor of Heaven." I wrote it about four years before recording the album and by that time I was coming out of my Prog-Rock phase so I shortned this one and wrote something new to be the title-song.
Lyrics are self-explanatory. As I kid, looking up on a clear night, the flickering of the stars made it look like the blackness of space was a giant ceiling with heaven above, and you could tell God and the angels were up there walking around. |

| Ric Alba – Edge of a Hurricane Lyrics

These lyrics were intended to paint a picture of a literal battle scene in a place like Vietnam, and the ways a soldier might have of dealing with the horrors of it. This of course is the simplified interpretation, since everything I wrote on this album was an expression of my own "horrors" of everyday life. The images of war (being wounded, being chased by things trying to kill you, comforting comrades), are all expressions of how it sometimes feels for any of us in every day life. They guy you pass on the street might himself be dealing with a "monster" or "bleeding from the side" and needs a hand from a friend. He might be wanting to screem, but wonders if anyone will hear. |
