| I think everybody who commented has explained the meaning of the song well. Her themes and stories are so complex that it's hard to fully understand everything. I bet if anybody asked her what each song meant, she wouldn't fully know, just like many artists. In an interview, she said she didn't realize how many God references she put in her lyrics. And that it probably came from her having blues about being thirty. She thought when she was little that she would be married and have kids by thirty, but she's no where near that now. I guess that caused her to look back in her life and feel a bit sad that she didn't accomplish what she wanted to do so long ago. | |

| I think it is about feeling secured about life even if it is false security because people are scared of the future. Whether it be a fear of going to Hell even if you don't believe in it, or fear of loneliness when she talks about her parents getting back together. She knows her parents getting back together is a bad idea, but she won't do anything about it and rather wants to feel secure and happy by drinking beer with friends to forget about it. I don't know what the middle part means though... | |

I think the theme of the entire album is Honesty. In this song, she's just being honest with her insecurities about her belief in God and just going through her thoughts about her life in relation to God. At some point, everybody, whether a believer or not, goes through this and either reaches a conclusion or doesn't. From the shortness of the poem, it seems she can't reach a conclusion about whether He is present in her life and just lets the music continue with her possibly running her thoughts in her head whether than singing them out loud. Or, she is explaining how she has a love-hate relationship with God. She feels God exists when she is given great things, but when something bad happens or taken away from her, she feels God is not apart of her. Again, I think it's all about being honest with her thoughts. |
