of Montreal – Coquet Coquette Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Beautiful and pitiful should be changed to dutiful and beautiful, respectively. At least that's the way it is in the studio version. There's a chorus in this song! Coquet means flirtatious and coquette means flirtatious woman. But coquet can also mean a flirtatious man, which might mean this coquet-coquette is a flirtatious transgender! And then you look at the line "guy's face under your eyelids" and wonder. |
of Montreal – For Our Elegant Caste Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Gemini Tactics probably refers to his wife. It's her brand and nickname. |
of Montreal – Death Isn't a Parallel Move Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"Little friend" referred to his daughter in "Miss Blonde, Your Papa is Failing." There's also a line in "So Begins Our Alabee" (... and i never want to be your little friend the abject failure...) but I'm ignoring that one. |
of Montreal – An Eluardian Instance Lyrics | 14 years ago |
more support for "Himmlers" instead of "inverse": Himmler oversaw the Gestapo, which Kevin mentioned in The Past is a Grotesque Animal. |
of Montreal – St. Exquisite's Confessions Lyrics | 14 years ago |
as much as we like the raunchy lyrics in oM songs, it seems that "big cock creator" is actually "peacock creator." nina barnes even designed a t-shirt for it: http://www.polyvinylrecords.com/store/index.php?id=630 |
of Montreal – If You Feel You Must Go, Don't Go! Lyrics | 14 years ago |
this is the husband's response to "my darling i've forgotten" (which is told by the wife) |
of Montreal – My Darling, I've Forgotten Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"That your cutie pie has forgotten what he saw in you" in the song, i definitely hear "she" this song is the wife's story, as told by the wife. "you feel you must go, don't go!", the next song in the album, is the husband's response. |
of Montreal – Happiness + Love Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I have no idea whether the lines "will find the cue" "just reapering old man leaves" and "You only have to shit it" are correct. If you listen to the song, they sound accurate. But "shit" in a song about happiness and love? It doesn't fit. I'll appreciate any comments. |
of Montreal – Mimi Merlot Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This and Penelope are my favorite songs on the Coquelicot album. I love this part: "It's snowing all around inside Mimi's wardrobe Oh, no, no Now she's covering the wardrobe in aluminum foil Oh, no, no" |
of Montreal – Katie and Caroline Lyrics | 16 years ago |
What album is this on? ! I'm on a quest to listen to every song by of Montreal |
of Montreal – Spooky Spider Chandelier Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Two questions: 1) Who's singing? 2) What's she saying between the second and third lines [in an Asian language]? |
of Montreal – Everyday Feels Like Sunday Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song is the background music for a NASDAQ commercial. http://youtube.com/watch?v=kOJvWaV13Pg At least the lyrics weren't changed. |
of Montreal – Dustin Hoffman's Tongue Taken to Police Lab Where It Is Used as Toilet Paper and Reading Material While on the Toilet Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The 2nd-to-last part actually replaces "You sit there and tell me that" with "You don't tell me that." It's a pretty fun song. It doesn't seem very personal. I take everything literally so I'd say there's a girl who keeps sulking around Kevin because she misses her boyfriend, but she's not doing anything to help herself or get him back. |
of Montreal – The Couple's First Kiss Lyrics | 16 years ago |
There isn't much variation in this song. It's happy and whimsical. It's filled with slippery sound effects. I guess it has to do with the fact that a couple's first kiss is pretty spontaneous. |
of Montreal – Dustin Hoffman's Wife Comes Home Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song's all right. It could be an open relationship that he wants to turn into a real relationship. The girl's probably on vacation or far away for some reason. The guitar notes after the last "Allow me the dream" are catchy. |
of Montreal – Charlie and Freddy Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This reminds me of 80s television shows with young, bad actors. The lines are so corny and cliche, I love it. "Well gee, Freddy, I never thought of it that way!" Hahahaha. Freddy: Well I see ten girls a day just like her. -later- Charlie: How many did you say there were? Ten? |
of Montreal – Christmas Isn't Safe for Animals Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I like the "Put it on your Sears card!" part. Christmas doesn't really hurt animals. He's kinda joking. He's talking about Christmas being a commercial holiday. Commercial holidays are bad. Hurting animals is also bad. Got it? Haha. Animals are "soft and squishy." |
The Killers – Don't Shoot Me Santa! Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The way Brandon sings this is pretty great too. He sounds like he's begging for his life! Hilarious. |
of Montreal – Dustin Hoffman Quits Bathroom and Climbs a Tree Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This is my favorite song on the CD. It sounds slightly country. I think it's a pessimistic song about having had your girlfriend leave you because you said some things you shouldn't have. "I burnt my tongue, it fucked me up for days." |
of Montreal – Dustin Hoffman Scrubs Too Hard and Loses Soap Lyrics | 16 years ago |
To pbrazil: No. I doubt it. I would've liked it better if the Dustin Hoffman titles had something remotely related to the songs. But this CD is so great anyway! |
