This was the first song I heard from Death Cab and I immediately loved them.
I see this song just describing the pain you get from reminicing from a broken bridge. "Pictures I tried to forget" as well as "Now that it's gone, It's like it wasn't there at all" are just absolutely perfect for describing the emotion. |

I say that this is basically about life's one big cycle. That you feel that the problems you have now are somewhat repeated (like sliding down a slide over and over again). To me this is just about the dreadful repitition life has for us. |

a lot of different oppinions on the last verse. this is the way i see it:
i see bed ridden as their father coming back and the mother and him just spend all their time in bed because they fall back in love and this is why the mother cries out that love is real.
i don't think there's many metophors, just a straight forward story. |

i think this has to do more than just a party. i believe that he's trying to get out that he doesn't feel right following the crowd and doing what everyone else does. i think this sort of as the unique anthem of society with the mentioning of the saturday night and the you don't need talk to look good (how people act stupid). |
