this songs all about being a helpless bystander. "which way will you run" actually asks, who will you turn to in the time of need? there's also a great sense of -out w/ the old, in w/ the new- he wants to do away with preconcieved routines, using "out from underneath your feet" to we will loose balance at 1st, but "shake it off" and "plant seeds" which means to start growing on new and better ways of living. the "breeze" part is saying so many people are fearful of the future, they can't focus on improving it right now. and lastly, singing from the heart alone seems as if it's not enough to get the message across. |

i think this song is about moving into the stages of life where the inevitable foreshadows of it all becomes relevant. like when people say "you'll find out as you get older" there are certain hurdles the majority of us face. yet you are unique, and no one can honestly tell you what will happen, "your voice is your own", so they can only guide you through events that probably will take place. |

i think this song is written from the eyes of the whole world, and life on it in general (also why the song is too short). the sun disobeying, is saying it will do as it will, without regards. and the friend we wait for is, well, up to you. could be the sun waiting for someone to shine on, could be Jesus, could be your true love. i like how it's vague enough for interpretation. |
