| Marilyn Manson – My Monkey Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Quite the interpretation, Haemoglobiner, kudos for all the thought put into it. I think that's a good summary of the song's meaning. Although, this song could also be aboot the process of aging any person goes through. "Had a little monkey/I sent him to the country and I fed him on gingerbread..." -The gingerbread-eating monkey could be the children of the United States, young, spoiled, and raised as such. "Along came a choo choo,/ knocked my monkey coo-coo/and now my monkey's dead/at least he looks that way, but then again don't we all?/(what i make is what i am, i can't be forever)...." -Adolescence and adulthood comes, and society, the choo choo train, sedates and runs naivity over; we are now prejudice, hypocritical, self-righteous adults whose inner child and innocence is virtually dead, although as yound adults, we haven't yet accepted that. "and now my monkey's dead/poor little monkey..." - As older adults, we've come to terms with this death of innocence and childhood. "make you.../break you.../make you.../break you.../lookout..../(what i make is what i am, i can't be forever)" -Society usually molds us into self-righteous, uninformed carbon-copy worker drones and breaks our once hopeful, naive spirits. "we are our own wicked gods/with little "g's" and big dicks/sadistic and constantly inflicting a slow demise..." -Self-explanatory, we are responsible for what we do; as well, we tend to be perverse and selfish, thought not as important as we think. We are all sadistic and two-faced; eventually, we spin our demise and die inside. All that's left is that death manifest into the physical. |

| Marilyn Manson – Down In The Park Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
The Gary Numan song the Foo Fighters covered, as well. Although, as good as the Foos covered (they're a good band, as well; not as good as Manson, but they've got talent), I like this cover better. As you can tell from most of the comments, 'tis aboot a world inwhich robots take control of humanity, and human-cyborgs run around, raped by a rape-machine and serving the robots. Although, this could also go into humanity's dependency on technology (think aboot it, the internet, T.V., microwave, have all become integral facets of our lives, facets which we're so pitiful, we'd be lost without them) and how our dependency will potentially drive man into a sense of slavery, if it hasn't already. Brian Warner, he renamed himself like KoRn's Head (not legally, but 'tis his pseudonym, nonetheless) and Alice Cooper's Alice Cooper ('tis originally Vincent Furnier). |

| KoЯn – Ever Be Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I thought this song was aboot inner struggle in Jonathan Davis against the thngs he does and the anti-conscious.....you know, that little voice in your head that contradicts your conscious and leads you to do things you conscious might otherwise prevent. Could be aboot Head, though, that could be justified. Damn, if I could only find a quote from Davis himself....alas. Yeah, though, Head owes Korn for how they've supported him; Davis and the other members knew Head wouldn't appreciate writing songs like Nirvana's "Sappy" or Slayer's "Jesus Saves" and they respected that and respected his beliefs. Then Head had to leave, and unlike Silveria, he repayed them with back-stabbing and religioys fervor. *Sigh*, such is religion, turning people against other people with its guidelines and nonsense (remember the Crusades, the Dark Ages?), when god is fake and we all simply evolved. | |
| KoЯn – Porno Creep Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Despite the lack of lyrics, 'tis a cool song, like Lamb of God's "Ashes of the Wake". I like the beginning, the guitars coming in that sound like some kind of growlings. I like Life is Peachy, especially "Kill You" and "Good God". | |
| Slayer – Jesus Saves Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is one hell of a song, as Slayer is one hell of a band. 'Tis on my favourite songs on "Reign In Blood". This song sums up my feelings on religion (not neccesarily all of the religious people, but religion itself and what the religious megalomaniacs have done without shame), like Nirvana's "Sappy". | |
| KoЯn – Divine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I like your interpretations, deathsjester and TrailofaMadman, morningstar. This is one awesome song, and one hell of an awesome album (especially for a first, like Blew). I love Korn, and Jonathan Davis, like Kurt Cobain, is an awesome person. His lyrics are pretty raw and emotional, and easy to relate to. I'm a social outcast (a 'negative creep') myself, so listening to Korn (or Nirvana) helps me cope with it, and vent, listening to Cobain or Davis yell and sing their guts and hate out. | |
| Foo Fighters – Hell Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is a cool song. I like the lyrics, title, guitars, all together awesome song. What's the meaning, though. No one knows either?.....maybe it's aboot his view on the afterlife, that there isn't one (that's my view, I'm an atheist) and his laughing aboot it, thinking aboot the possibility of being there if one were to exist, yet not taking it seriously. That's more literal, though, maybe it's another relationship song, aboot two people who are distorted, confused, and have plenty of issues who understand that and go together like glue and paper. Could be.... | |
| Foo Fighters – Razor Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is a beautiful song, I love the guitar work. Majoevic, there are songs aboot death on that C.D., have you not heard D.O.A. or Hell? I'm not sure what it means myself. The obvious meaning, of course, self-infliction, but that would be too obvious; and think aboot it, Dave doesn't self-mutilate, he's got a happy life and hasn't struggled with it, then why would he sing aboot it? The theory of loving something that harms you sound accurate, though. | |
| KoЯn – Ass Itch Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| THat's one hell of a song, I like it. I like to write poems, and sometimes, that's how I feel aboot them. Then again, Jonathan Davis can write some blunt lyrics that relate to many people. MetalMessiah, tard, don't insult Korn for this song, or the genre they're placed in; this song, like the band, is quite freaking awesome. You like metal, do you like thrash? That's what Metallica is, and a lot of people mistakenly insult them, labeling them sell-outs and a crapload of crude nicknames (just visit the nirvanaclub.net message boards and you can see what I mean....)....so insulting Korn for being categorized as nu-metal is like saying all of thrash is like Metallica (if you hate Metallica) when there are plenty of other thrash bands out there. | |
| Nirvana – Dive Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is a cool song, a favourite on Incestide. I love "Donwer" and "Stain", but this is a good one, as well. | |
| Nirvana – On a Plain Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is a cool song, I like Unplugged in NY version more. I read it's random lines of poetry Kurt Cobain wrote (Wikipedia- "However,.he offered a different explanation for his songs every time he was asked..he didn't know their meanings himself, 'When I write poetry it's not usually thematic at all...and when it comes time to write lyrics, I just steal from my poems."); possibly aboot, "classic alienation", as he stated in another interview. "I was so antisocial that I was almost insane," he said. "I felt so different and so crazy that people just left me alone." | |
| Foo Fighters – Long Road To Ruin Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Aboot Cobain? Are you serious, or yet another fan claiming yet another Foos song is aboot the genius frontman's death (not to be so cynical, but you know what so many fellow Nirvana fans falsely claim). This song isn't too bad, but honestly, there are better Foos songs out there. The video's funny, but being played on MTV a lot, which is sort of commercial (I'm not a big fan of MTV, it's sort of a sellout-once-music channel; stations like FUSE are way better, actually talking aboot and playing actual music) makes it slightly less appealing. | |
| Metallica – Sad But True Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This is an awesome Metallica song, a favourite of mine. To me, it could be aboot two things: drug/alcohol addiction and depression. While the first commenter could be right, think aboot it, sounds like a drug/drinking addicition to me, how the addict loses control and feels false sense of security... "hey I'm your life I'm the one who cares they they betray I'm your only true friend now they they'll betray I'm forever there..." -An addict might feel like that addiction is everything, and developing a paranoia, a false trust in the addiction to sustain and never betray or leave... Then, the addict realizes they've been controlled or screwed by it... "hey I'm your life I'm the one who took you here hey I'm your life and I no longer care..." -The addiction is an obsession, and has driven their life into living hell; the addict feeling betrayed by the addicition, shocked into reality, possibly..................... Also, sounds like depression, how it screws with you and your brain. Don't think that's what it's aboot, just saying it sounds like it or something. "I'm your pain when you can't feel sad but true... Hey.... I'm the one who takes you there..." -Takes happiness away, makes you feel like crap, and possibly leads you into deeper crap. "hey I'm your life I'm the one who cares they they betray I'm your only true friend now ..." -You feel alone, like your an annoyance to others and/or they don't like you/betray you, so you wallow and keep to yourself, and you believe you're your only ali, not wanting help from a psychiatrist or anti-depressants (so you feel stuck, like it's not going to go away). |
|
| KoЯn – Right Now Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is a cool song, helps vents the frustations that build up (especially being a passive-agressive person). Then again, Korn is an awesome band, as awesome of a band as Nirvana was (which is saying a lot). | |
| Foo Fighters – Burn Away Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song was decent, not too bad. Jek21, did you even listen to, and not just hear, One By One? Sure, "Overdrive" isn't a favourite; this song isn't a best; but One By One has a lot of good songs, including "Come Back", a best, in my opinion, vocals, guitar, and all. As with religion and non-religion, agree to disagree.....Anyways, I always thought this was aboot how the Foos don't want to become some mythologized, arrogant band who's sold their soul and lost touch with the actual music or feelings, how they're trying to stay grounded. Think aboot it..... "The same old superstition Haunt us now and then...." --Staying level-headed and other boundaries that would keep their music from its potential (i.e, "is this song too emotional/revealing/offensive?", "is this too acoustic, metal, unstylistic etc...?") is something they dealt with and still deal with and still will. "I'm begging for ignition To start it all again..." --As in, begging for inspiration/emotion to continue making great songs and the need to not become complacent, to take risks and have fun. "We'll burn away Burn away, burn away my pride......." --As in, they'll stay level-headed and grounded, and in touch with reality. Could be wrong, but my analysis seems correct (annotating novels for Advanced English has to count for something...). |

| Foo Fighters – Baker Street (Gerry Rafferty cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is an amazing song, I love that Santana-like guitar riff coupled with Dave Grohl's caramelly, smooth yet somewhat scratchy vocals; makes you feel a little nostalgic for the past, remembering good times that are long-lost (that's what it makes me think of, back when I was a younger kid, back before I moved, how I miss it and how it felt good). Think he said it was something along those lines in a magazine interview once..... | |
| KoЯn – Did My Time Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is one awesome Korn song. I haven't been a Korn fan for that long, but so far, I like them a lot, pretty freaking awesome. Guys, don't pester simonbirch20 for his constructive, detailed critisisms, some people just have pay attention to minute details. I can see where he's coming from, it is a cool song and all, but I do see some minor things myself. Still, I can relate to the lyrics somewhat, and the guitars are good the song, it's a good one. | |
| Foo Fighters – Learn to Fly Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Was just on a site with a bunch of FF interviews )fooarchive.com), where Dave Grohl talked aboot this song in an interview. This is a pretty cool song, I guess, like the music video a lot. Anyways, I just read what the songs aboot, it's aboot Dave learning to fly (a plane), and aboot a feeling or passion that makes you feel alive, like an artist sitting there with a sketchbook and pencil---that's how I feel when I'm sitting there with a sketchbook and pencil, feels right and exhilirating in away. Heard aboot it being all aboot religious salvation, or drugs, and while salvation seems credible, found a quote in the interview I read online.... "I've been learning to fly for the last two years, but I still haven't got my licence. The song's about looking for the feeling that makes you feel alive." - Dave Grohl |

| Soundgarden – Jesus Christ Pose Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This is a tight song, love the guitar riffs and the video, as well as the theme. Grunge_Rocker, Blackholeson, shame on you; I'm an atheist, and us atheists don't need people like you to preach at us and call us heathens, guessing you're one of the people Chris is singing aboot in this song. "And you stare at me In your Jesus Christ pose... And I swear to you that I would never feed you pain But you're staring at me like I'm driving the nails..." Like Lepra Messias and others have said, I always thought this song was a complaint on religion (mainly christianity) and religious (mainly christian) people who stuff their beliefs on others and the hypocrisy of it all. I could be wrong, however, could be aboot models and the egotistical. |

| Nirvana – You Know You're Right Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This is one cool song. Listened to it twice on the Sliver: Best of Nirvana album, the one with some singles; it has demos and radio solos on it. It does have a creepy feel. And while it sounds as if he could be referring to suicidal feelings, it does also sound like a complaint on being married to Courtney. Yeah, I've been to nirvanaclub.com, and from the evidence it posted, I definetely think Courtney Love could've killed Kurt Cobain. She couldn't have divorced him; if she did indeed kill him, shame on her, that guilt will haunt her like a vengeful phantom. I'm not sure, not completely ruling out suicide, but homicide seems likely...... | |
| Foo Fighters – World Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This is one awesome song, a best of theirs and a favourite of mine. I've heard it might be a cover, an old Eric Clapton song or something like that....regardless, it's the kind of song that winds me down alittle and makes life seem slightly stabler and better off. It does sound like it could be aboot the environment, but I don't think that's what the song is aboot. I think the song is aboot, like others have said, life being a constant cycle, aboot humanity trying to help each other "over and over again/ I find the soul that burns....", and Dave Grohl stating a possibility of some sort of god or higher power being out there, and searching for it; "To keep these broken wings floating Carry on into the sun, into the sun On into the sun On into the sun Looking down at you, sleeping From above, I love...". |

| Foo Fighters – Everlong Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This is a great song. The guitar parts are cool, and so is the video (very FF video). Not my favourite (the fact that it's a love song played at weddings a lot is part of that), but a good one. I prefer either hard rock FF songs (FFL, Colour and the Shape, Low) or heart-touchingly haunting ones (February Stars, World, Home). Anyways, the meaning, I've heard, is more than a love song; based on a technical manual (something like that) Dave Grohl said, a love letter (obviously), and possible aboot negative feelings. I've also heard it being aboot Kurt Cobain, but I highly doubt that; despite most other FF fans accrediting Dave's music to Kurt Cobain, it isn't all aboot him. Don't get me wrong, I'm a die-hard Nirvana fan and Dave was friends with Kurt, but he has more he can write aboot and doesn't like to get into his Nirvana days (in an interview, he said he doesn't listen to Nirvana albums, like opening an old box of pictures). | |
| Nirvana – Blew Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This is a cool song, I like the way he sung it smoothly at the beggining, and as it progresses, it becomes raspier and louder (probably some effect caused by the remixing process, but still). Heard it on "Bleach" and on "From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah", sounds different on Muddy Banks (which makes sense, it was live on that CD and he switched around some lyrics). Anyways, I've heard someone's interpretation being a blow job, but I think it's aboot feelings of suffocation. He did feel suffocated in his life, his ex, family, school, drugs and later on, fame, Courtney, so that'd make sense. "If you wouldn't care I would like to leave/ If you wouldn't mind I would like to breathe...." - He wants to get out of the situation, and he can't "breathe", or have some sort of freedom. "Is there another reason for your stain/ Could you believe who we knew was stress or strain?..." -Why they did that to him, why he feels like that, and that it happened, despite those peoples' denials. |
|
| Nirvana – About a Girl Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Yeah, I've read aboot this being aboot his ex, Tracy, who threatened to kick him out. He'd always threaten to live in his car as a comeback. Always thought "For free" didn't include the for, and that it was aboot him feeling free when he wasn't around her...... "For free," as in her paying makes more sense, though. Yesterday was his birthday (threw that out randomly, I know). | |
| Nirvana – Scentless Apprentice Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This is an awesome song. I love the beggining, with the drums, then the electric guitars coming in. It is based off "Perfume", said that on nirvanalyrics.net, and the lyrics do match the novel "his smell smelled like no other...". | |
| Foo Fighters – Low Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Regardless of what the meaning most likely is, it is an awesome song. Love the guitar rifts; I hope when I finish learning guitar, and form a band, I can play like that. Consider what "All My Life" is aboot, and consider a lot of his songs being aboot broken relationships. I think you guys are right, aboot dead-end-relationships, taking advantage of others, or thongs. Still, I can see how it could be aboot drugs, "You'll be my passerby I'll be your new one to pass through...." does sound like a drug deal, and the music itself, you know, is a nostalgic, somewhat gloomy sound, which is partly what I like aboot it. |
|
| Foo Fighters – I'll Stick Around Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Nirvana, suck?! They are one the best bands ever; unlike most bands and some if its members, Kurt wasn't some conformist who wrote aboot cheery crap, he bled it out in his songs, and he bled it well. I suppose those Nirvana haters do listen to music like....Avril Lavigne and Jonas Brothers, and I bet they consider her "punk rock", and Jonas Brothers a decent rock band. Cynicism isn't such a bad thing.........back to the point, I've heard this was written aboot Love, but it could be aboot anyone in general who is "getting the best, the best, the best, best of you." Not quite sure. Still, love the song, and the video is a cool one. | |
| Foo Fighters – Come Alive Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I love this song. Sad yet beautiful, like tears, especially the beggining. I don't think it's aboot a god, because I don't think Grohl's a christian (nothing mentioned of it on Wikipedia, and they would if he was); could be wrong, but I don't he is. It reminds me of family counseling, since I'd listen to this on the rides home when I first started going, and it'd comfort me when I felt pretty upset aboot the counceling. Dave Grohl said how he wrote this album for his daughter on the Grammys, I think it is aboot Violet. It also sounds like it could be aboot someone who is going through difficult times "come alive," and their loved ones are watching, worried aboot that person. Then in the end, the person pulls through "You saved me the day you came alive". Don't think it's the theme, though, just saying. Yeah, a lot of people say the lyrics are aboot Kurt Cobain. And while they were friends and band mates, Dave has said that he doesn't like to bring up Nirvana, since it's like opening a box of old pictures. Beno_275, what do you mean by "Not saying im Atheist or any of the crap"? I'm an atheist, but you don't have to be one to see that FF isn't comtemporary christian.... | |
