| Oasis – Don't Look Back in Anger Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I really think that this song is about peace. Not only does it include a direct quote from Lennon about the bed-in, but it also shares the same beginning chord progression as "Imagine". The title is simple, don't look back in anger. It's about not following the trend of friends, or even culture that seems to encourage us all to fight. It's optimistic about being even-tempered and peaceful. | |
| Billy Joel – Only The Good Die Young Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Yep, this song's definitely about taking a Catholic girl's virginity. I'm Catholic and I think it's funny as hell...very clever and strikes pretty close to home, to tell the truth. | |
| Billy Joel – She's Always A Woman Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think that it's definitely too harsh to call the woman in this song abusive or narcissistic. I think the point that he's trying to make is that she's passionate and headstrong. Even though that sometimes makes her hard to live with, he loves her all the more for it and respects that she's confident and independent. Like all of us, this woman can be cruel, cryptic, and just plain hurtful. But he loves her enough to see past her bad temper, and at the end of the day, always respects her as a "woman", not as a "child." That's the kind of love I think all women dream about finding. And I love to listen to this song, even if only to assure myself that some men still respect and love women this way. |

| Billy Joel – The River Of Dreams Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I actually like this song. It has a really old-fashioned feel. I really do think this song is about a dream. It sounds like the kind of things we all do in those dreams where we are looking for something and can't seem to remember what it is. | |
| Joni Mitchell – Ladies of the Canyon Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| LOVE this song. I always imagine the canyon as a beautiful place where people, especially women, can live the creative lives they want to live, free from the demands of modern society. Each of the women makes her mark by doing exactly what they want in life. | |
| O.A.R. – Untitled Lyrics | 17 years ago |

This song is not only very catchy and upbeat, lots of fun, but something lots of us can relate to as well. It's told from the point of view of a person that is a little bit torn about a relationship. He still loves his ex, but has to live his life, has to get out in the world and see what he's all about. He can't commit himself, but he doesn't want her out of his life. He's content to be mostly friends, and hook up every once in awhile. She still wants a full relationship. He doesn't want to hurt her, but he has to move on and find out who he really is before he is tied down to a girl. |

| Guns N' Roses – November Rain Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song is about two very close friends who are on the brink of a potential relationship. However, one of them is still in a relationship with another person. They don't want to rush into things and make it a rebound relationship, but both people know there's something there. "Nothing lasts forever, even cold November rain." The guy is saying that when the girl is fully over her current breakup, he'll still be waiting there for her, and they will be able to be together. Ok, maybe I'm throwing my own story into this a little bit. :) But it's how I see the song. |

| Bon Jovi – Who Says You Can't Go Home? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
It doesn't matter where you are, It doesn't matter where you go If it's a million miles away or just ten miles up the road Take it in , Take it with you when you go These lyrics mean so much to me. So many people think that to really experience life, you have to travel to exotic places or have an interesting career. These things are important and worthwhile, but so are the small things in life. These lyrics are saying that a person can get as much out of a simple trip across the street to see a friend as they could get traveling across the world. Wherever a person finds him or herself, true happiness comes from realizing life as you live it and understanding the power of each individual experience. There is so much wisdom in these lyrics. |

| Jack's Mannequin – MFEO: Part 1: Made for Each Other/Part 2: You Can Breathe Lyrics | 17 years ago |

oh my god, i saw them sing this live and it was one of the best moments of my life, lol. this song has very personal meaning for me. it reminds me of my high school friends, the fun we had when we were first experimenting with our freedom, and how we thought it would never end. "is it possible for the world to look this way forever?" when you're young, the whole world is watching you...or so it seems. the second part is absolutely amazing as well. it's about a long-awaited reunion between lovers, and to put it plainly, making out in the backseat of a car. "so what's another night, the seats roll back, they can't see through." it brings back happy memories for me, lol. the way that the two melodies, fast and slow, mix together is absolutely genius. i adore andrew mcmahon. |

| Sugar Ray – Every Morning Lyrics | 17 years ago |

definitely reminds me of good times and summertime! i never thought of the halo as a condom. i always thought of it as the boyfriend admitting that the girl is so much better, nicer, and more angelic (the halo) than him. Basically, he's using her for sex and he sorta feels bad about it, but they both know it and don't care. I didn't think about it as referring to cheating at all. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – Your New Twin Sized Bed Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think that the speaker of this song is an guy talking to an ex from many years ago. He's moved on, maybe even found another woman, but she hasn't had a relationship since. They are still friends, maybe even have a very brother-sister like relationship now. There's a very biting tone of criticism in this song, and I think it can be interpreted as a little bit of masked hurt that the girl ended it with him. Yet, the tone changes during "and I try not to worry," showing the listener that the guy still cares a whole lot about her, and worries that she's wasting her life. This song makes me sad. It reminds me of someone I know that probably will end up an old maid due to her eccentric qualities. The woman in this song seems as though she wants a boyfriend/husband, but not badly enough to get out there and meet someone. This song is about accepting the realities about yourself, and this woman knows that she will never be able to marry. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – Brothers on a Hotel Bed Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
this song reminds me of letting go. "even at our swiftest speed, we couldn't break from the concrete, in the city where we still reside." you can love someone more than anything, and wish for everything to stay the way it is, but sometimes moving on means changing locations, and changing locations means moving on. there is a time and a place for everything in life, and unfortunately, sometimes you fall in love with someone at the wrong time. life happens. we can try our hardest to hold a relationship or a friendship together, but sometimes life forces us apart. |

| The Verve Pipe – The Freshmen Lyrics | 17 years ago |

This song has a much more loose meaning to me. For me, it represents the spontaneous decisions we make when we are young teenagers, not really thinking about very much but the present. We loved with everything we were capable of, but in the end, it never worked out because of our lack of life experience, like in the lyrics, "What made us think that we were wise and we'd never compromise." Afterwards, both ended up with broken hearts and a refusal to take responsibility for emotionally hurting the other one. Such is the course of first real love. If anything, the reference to a baby's breath represents their shared innocence and youth, not an actual baby. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – Your New Twin Sized Bed Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The weird thing I see about this song is that it's kind of upbeat. The lyrics are sad, but the song is almost hopeful. It makes me feel like there is hope for this person, that putting the old queen sized bed out is a positive change. | |
| Death Cab for Cutie – Grapevine Fires Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This is my favorite song on the new album. To me, it's all about the fact that we're mortal. I love the imagery throughout the song that deals with life and death, like the little girl running and playing in the cemetery: proof that life and death can coincide. This song obviously has connections to the California wildfires, but it puts such a personal touch on a national event. We all remember "where we were" when big events were going on, and this is the author's personal touch. Love the "wine in paper cups." It's so vivid. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – Your Heart Is an Empty Room Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I see this song as talking about the natural progression of both relationships and the detachment from the home of a parent. When a relationship first begins, it is beautiful and new like spring, but once you settle down, you realize that the "chase" (the freedom of being single) has gone away, and it's kind of a disconcerting feeling. Burning down the house is a metaphor for leaving home for the first time and realizing that you will come back a very different person than when you left. You leave thinking everything looks more appealing than your childhood home, and so out of anger and desperation, you want to burn it down in your heart and leave your heart an empty room. I think this song refers almost to two different situations. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – A Lack of Color Lyrics | 18 years ago |

My favorite line in the song is "and when i see you, i really see you upside down. but my brain knows better. it picks you up and turns you around." Believe it or not, I never really thought much about those lyrics until we learned about the structure of the eye in my anatomy course. The eye registers every image upside down and then nerve cells in the brain turn the image around. So interesting when you think about literally seeing situations or people in a different light. I think that's what this song is saying. |
