About the swimming references.. I'm pretty sure MCS is referring to the "Sink or Swim" concept. It's pretty simple, when you're swimming, you have to keep on swimming to stay afloat, or else you'll drown. Also, you can't swim forever without any help. Every time "swimming" is referenced in MCS's music, the context that it's in usually describes the ability to keep a relationship going, or lack thereof. "If we keep swimming maybe this will never die" -Make Out Kids "I'll swim backwards" -Better Open the Door "Busy hands keep swimming, they don't like swallowing" -Autographs & Apologies "I can't swim in the silence of your skin" -My Favorite Accident Etc. The sink or swim concept is what MCS is all about. Knowing that things aren't what they should be, but constantly putting up with it for that small hope that it will be all right. |

It's a pre-break up song. It describes that point in a relationship where the good is beginning to be outweighed by the bad, but there's still hope in your head that it will all work out. It's that point when there's enough wrong to justify a break-up, but the other person means way too much to you. "I'm confused Dont know what I should do now You, you confuse everything close to you Tell me how does this feel" This explains it all: When you don't know what to do about a relationship but you don't want to make a decision until you hear the other's feelings on it. |
