| Wow, too bad there are some negative vibe merchants up in here. I care about what everyone thinks, so thanks for sharing everyone. Obviously music is subjective, meaning it's different for everyone. This is why most artists don't come out and straight up say what they were feeling or thinking when they wrote it. If they did, people would feel disillusioned. The meaning of music is dynamic with new and additional meaning being created every time someone across the globe (the universe) listens to it. Furthermore, song meanings change over time even for those who wrote and designed them! This song, to me, speaks to the righteous endeavor of trying to live and think positively, to "open up to light," and the frustration of being sucked back into the darkness of negativity and selfishness. Just my two cents! (; | |

"I watch the birds of prey that hunt the canyon below my house they're looking for a meal like a lizard or a mouse I wonder if they appreciate the setting like me to control your own direction choose to be free " That's surely a reference to free will. But, as the song as a whole goes, it's little pieces of insight here and there fused together with some tongue in cheek lyrics and funky beats and guitar riffs all fueled in large part by psychotropic drugs. Eh? Ehhh? |

| This song is both about OBE and about the afterlife. The speaker in the song is dead and is rising out of his body. I don't think he, the speaker in the song, realizes that he's dead yet, thus the strange noise from the speaker. Anyway, if you know much about Doug "SA" Martinez, you'll understand that he is in touch with his spiritual self and this song is both an amalgamation (a putting together) of his own personal spiritual experiences, such as the out of body experience (OBE) he had as well as an "ode," if you will, to the experience of dying which, in essence, is an OBE. AWESOME SONG. Although sometimes Nick is often the superior musician in terms of singing and music, SA is definitely my favorite for his profound lyrics and funky musical make up. | |

| This song is definitely about the afterlife, or immortality. It is a poetic song an, in my opinion, deals with the transmutation of energy (the shifting of energy from one form to another) for we are spirit beings, or energy beings. This song is in the same vein of thought as "The Continuous Life." Using drugs to induce states of deep meditation, however, is not the TRUE path to enlightenment. It might be a "back door" into these states, but if used continuously, it will destroy rather than build up. The band themselves have stopped using drugs to the extent they used to with some members even ceasing to use marijuana (I don't know if they ceased for good, but I know Tim and P-Nut sure haven't!). Finally, if you look at the song closely, there is definitely references to reincarnation too. | |
