Oh my god, I was literally thinking the exact same thing! I was thinking 'Harmless' would be good in one of the Twilight films. This song is such a beautiful song. It sounds like it's about trying to move on, but you can't. You know, and maybe knew deep down from the start, that you weren't right for each other, but it doesn't stop you loving them. |

This such a beautiful song. To me, and this is just a personal interpretation so I've no idea how accurate it is, this song is about someone having a profound effect on you, and not in a positive way. Often people believe they are in the right in specific situations, but really what they are doing actually damages those around them. Perhaps the chorus is saying when you feel and experience what I have, then I will see you. |

Silvius Brabo was a Roman, who cut off a giant's hand because the giant would cut off the hands of those who wouldn't pay to cross the river. I think the song is an analogy, for how the giants of the world are governments, and their hands control us. Silvius Brabo cut off the hand of the giant to get him back for taking people's money and punishing them if they don't give it up. In society it's the same, with taxes etc...going into the giant's (government's) pockets? Also, just for neatness' sakes, here is a capitalised, and more pedantic set of the lyrics: Now I was feeling like a total giant! But now it feels like Silvius Brabo has sliced my hand off And thrown it in the river! Man, I was just doing my job, My feet sinking into the bed of the Scheldt, But now my fingers are reeling about with the fishes. Ha ha ha, yes man. I know I'm not making any sense (No you're not) All will be revealed (Well I hope so) All will be revealed If we travel back in time. I've got to rest, It's for the best, To build a nest, To take the quest. To be given just one chance To be the best. Go, go, go, go, go, go forth and re-colonize. Go, go, go, go, go, go forth and re-colonize. It appears the foundations of all our great nations Are lies and indoctrination's. So if Silvius Brabo collects the hands of giants, Will you join him? |

I know theyre a Christian band, but I don't really see the relevance of that bible passage.... To me it's about after a relationship when you choose not to speak to them to move on: "i'm coming to the conclusion that healings works best through silent bruising" thats just my interpretation, im pretty sure there is more to it than that. |

Stop posting your opinions on the songs and each other, the site was created so that people could try and find the meaning behind a song's lyrics, so stay on topic. I think this album has a less specific concept, although it all focuses on the idea of being fake, and the new hollywood society that is appearing everywhere. The soung seems like a denouncement of the people who have a go at him, and he's just saying whatever, you don't matter. |

I think this song is about giving up, and how it really takes away a part of you. How there is constantly a pressure to do what people expect of you. At the end, it's almost as if Ian is consoling the person the song is aimed at, and encouraging them. |

BuckleyApprentice is spot on with his interpretation. keith Buckley has a very satirical yet acute observations on society. He is often commenting on the way people are, and how they act. This is so obviously about celebrities and how they claim to be such amazing people yet are just as bad as us. I love how biting the song is at times "Don't you know who I am? I'm the jaded one with pop insensivities." Love it. |
