| Your interpretation makes a lot of sense. Listening to the song, listening to the lyrics, I totally see what you're seeing, too. It clears the air a bit for those who might take the "love is with your brother" part a bit too far or think of it as being romantic rather than brotherly/protective. Very nice job :) | |

While I agree with both sides of the debate, that it is a love song and a Christian song, I have to speak my piece. Not all songs from Christian rock bands are about God. ALL songs are OPEN to the listeners interpretation. I feel the same way about this issue when it comes to Skillet who originated as a Christian rock band, but are also viewed as a modern rock band as well. I feel this song is good for either side of the argument, but personally I love it as a love song because its easier for me to relate. This is the reason for most artists releasing the music they do, so their fans can relate in whatever way possible. "And fight the tears With pretty smiles and lies about the times A year goes by And I can't talk about it The times weren't right And I couldn't talk about it Chorus Romance says goodnight Close your eyes and I'll close mine Remember you, remember me Hurt the first, the last between" Is what I can relate to the most. I've felt strongly about a guy for some time now and I had to hide the pain I've felt for so long by smiling and acting like everything was okay (I can also relate to "Tear Drops On My Guitar" because of this). That went on for about a year until I finally did tell him. Every chance I wanted to tell him how I felt it wasn't the best chance to or the timing was off. Every night I told him goodnight and went to bed around the same time he did; all I really ask of him is to remember me because he's been an important friend and person to me. |

This song is NOT about drugs. It gives references to drugs, but that's also because love is described as being a drug. When you're in love with someone you can't get enough of them, therefore, "addicted". He gives references to drugs and drug use to intensify what he's feeling towards who he loves. Music artists often do this in their music. |
