i think this song - along with many others from "Beautiful Intentions" - seems to deal about the abusive relationship between Melanie and the people at her former label. |

"So many I considered
Closest to me
Turned on a dime and sold me
Out dutifully
Although that knife was chipping
Away at me
They turned their eyes away and
Went home to sleep"
Pretty sure she's talking about the people of SONY. We all know things start to get complicated for Mariah's side after the divorce with she staying in the same label she ex-husband (the devil Motolla) headed. I can only imagine how many people stayed on Motolla's side at the time, making Mariah feel awfully vulnerable. |

Despite the song sounds like a "break up song", Melanie has written it talking about her experience at her former label, where people abused her. After being dropped out, she created her own label, Red Girl Records, where she is 'better alone' and free to do whatever she wants with her music. |

Mariah has originally written this song talking about her former marriage with Tommy Motolla, who was a control freak over Mariah's life. At that time, she was one of the biggest stars in music and she was known everywhere around the world, her album was selling damn good... everything a superstar could possibly want. She's thankful for that by in the end, she knows that all these things won't bring her peace of mind, something still is missing. Fame and sucess can't erase your past scars. |

This song is really, really sad. It depresses me a lot when hearing it. I think it deals about abortion, death, suicide, drugs... or anything morbid. Just guessing. |

I've always had the feeling this song deals about the temporary departure of melanie from the spice girls in order to realease her first solo album, finding another direction, tired of being just and ordinary manufactred popstar doing what she's told to. |

i hostely think this songs shoud be the song theme for the next American Idol season LMAO! i can clearly see how this song deals about new popstars emerging on the spotline, many times giving up on her dreams and morals to get some attention on the buzz and get a shot on the stage. In the end, they end up abused by labels, fired and alone with nothing. |
