The way I interpreted the song i thought it was: "hes got u talkin pretty love". I thought this song was not about a break up but about 2 friends, a guy and girl. the guy has secret romantic feelings for her. and shes now with this other guy and hes peeved and jealous. he thinks that this new guy just showing up and making her giddy and in love, hes gotta be pissed. beauty of a song though: "if its true what can be done?" |

A band this good, by 2008 youd think that theyd been able to top this song from their debut, but they havent. That is not taking a shot at the band its simply a testament to the song. The moment I heard the lyric "i know you supported me a long time somehow im not impressed" sung the 2nd time which is followed by the band gloriously rockin out without words until finally i heard "its up to me now turn on the bright lights". After experiencing this, i was excited by the band's uncommon ability to transcend their music. I became a believer. |

There are alot of great tracks on this record and they only get better with each listen but this one is just a standout. U got sufjan on piano, that gritty baritone. Im gonna attempt the meaning of this song since know one else has really tried. Ada is his sister. And shes about to get married to a man is doesn't approve of. he wants to confront her but she doesnt want to talk. as the wedding approaches i think she might be having 2nd thoughts, she gets nervous and he tells her if u think ur gonna faint go out in the hallway, let them all have ur neck. sort of a 'theres plenty of fish in the sea' spinoff. hes in a tux the day of the wedding waiting... she doesnt show. his words helped her. shes left somwhere where he doesnt know. hes optimistic. and theres a sense of acceptance at the end of the song like she'll be alright or something. with all the 'i can hear the sound of ur laugh on the walls' lines, u can tell that He misses his little sister but he also has faith in her. whaddya all think?? |
