The song is very bluntly written... I am no fan of Megadeth,but this is song took a place on my "song that remind and mean something" list... In any case... Two hearts that shouldn't Talk to each other become close In a town much like a prison cell The connection in fact is like barely any connection at all,they use this connection,thou both realize later they shouldn't,but at the time it becomes something bigger and its too late. People speak our names On the street in hushed tones Oh the stories they'd tell You come from a town where People don't bother saying hello Unless somebody's born or dies And I come from a place where they Drag your hopes through the mud Because their own dreams are all dying Here,this part... it points out the problem is distance... huge distance. And when we walk down the street The wind sings our name in rebel songs The sounds of the night should make us anxious But it's much to late when the fear is gone I doubt they actually walk down the street,and the winds sing their names in "rebel songs" since they fought with all their being against something that never could be... I will meet you in the Next Life, I promise you Where we can be together, I promise you I will wait till then in Heaven, I promise you I promise, I promise A promise... and we don't even know if we can actually make that promise... at this point the pain dominates over love... and we say words and make promises just to lessen the pain... etc. I do not feel like doing the rest,yet,you get my point... If anyone would listen Rumors spread like an illness,and this connection becomes the first topic in the street,since it is a small town... (how fucking familiar to me...) |

I somewhat agree with ChristAlphaOmega... but in my opinion you took his religious views a bit too much into your interpretation... the lyrics do not mention Christianity,Christ or any God for that matter... the rest I agree with. |

I may be way wrong with this,but possibly,these lyrics were written for a son's dead mother... considering,it is how most of you say... with not much metaphors? I am not a big fan of misfits,I only like this song,so I shall take your word for it...anyhow. "Anything is what she is Anywhere is where she's from Anything is what she'll be Anything as long as it's mine" perhaps,by the loss of his mother,the person searches her image in things around him,missing her "Anyplace is where she'll be Anyplace, she'll see you from" perhaps the thoughts on where she is now? hoping she still watches over him. "Point me to the sky above I can get there on my own Walk me to the graveyard Dig up her bones" first two lines indicate a path,as he can get there without anyone's help,but not knowing which way the path is,this is metaphorical for sure.and about what path,to a graveyard,perhaps the path to dead memories,and something unfinished about to be taken care of. "I have seen the demon's face I have heard of her death place I fall down on my knees in praise of the Horrible things that took her away" the line "I have heard of her death place" may indicate that he was not present when it happened,that he was away for a longer while,when he found out it broke him. again,I am probably way wrong,do not take my word for it... |

No... I disagree Oddity... in the most nicest way... it still makes no sense... the other two chours lines fit with your interpretation. but the first two do not... I'll post another comment with my interpretation ,once I think about the lyrics. |

In Flames is a band that focuses on the non-existence of God... I assume this also focuses on something like that,someone who the writer loves yet ,the person loves God more? "Yell at me, i want to be your light that shines" what else could the "light" represent... I may be wrong,probably am,but its just a thought. |
