| To me it feels like describing the passing of the years and the pure joy of just living. That's what I get from it. It's just celebrating how great it is to be alive and enjoy life. Definitely a positive song for me. I always smile when I listen to it. | |

For me, I get a sense that this song is about a girl. I don't think he's talking about the proverbial Jesus of Christian faith in this song. To me, he's attributing the symbolic meaning of Jesus to this girl. She can save him from himself, she is his salvation, but he is bad for her, he lies to her, and he crucifies her. There are a lot of parallels with biblical references that I could see representing something on a different level. There are just too many lines in this song that it doesn't make sense that its talking about what people are literally interpreting it as. I don't think he's talking about Jesus or life after death in the literal sense. |
