It's showing a bipolar side of him. i.e. They love each other but [alcoholism/anger] he's self-destructive and knows he'll only drag her down. So he pushes her away and when she finally leaves he can't believe it. |

To the band itself it's not about Christianity. Most of the lyrics when Howard Jones is the singer are about a lover who died. i.e. Rose of Sharyn, My Curse, The End of Heartache, or most any other song. It's a main theme of his songs, which explains why he likes The Element of One so much, because it can be applied to his theme even though Jesse's lover was just distant from him. |
