| For Squirrels – Mighty Kc Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Well, the song is called "Mighty KC." Those are Kurt's initials. |

| Stone Temple Pilots – Art School Girl Lyrics | 17 years ago |

What's with the hate? The song uses the same elements as "Big Bang Baby" showing a progression towards pretty much chaos. It seems to me that this song is making fun of the social rules of relationships and a particular type of clique. |

| R.E.M. – Until The Day Is Done Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
R.E.M. put two quotes with the lyrics of this song. "When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross." -Sinclair Lewis "Thanks for the last and greatest betrayal of the last and greatest of human dreams. Thanks for the American dream to vulgarize and falsity until the bare lies shine through." -William Burroughs These quotes also point that the song is about the state of the United States, and fit with the album's theme of a dystopian society created by governmental actions. |

| R.E.M. – Sing For The Submarine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
The song explains the cover art of the album (it's about a dystopia world following the end of civilization) and in a way sums of the direction of R.E.M. throughout their course. The song also references many R.E.M. songs, including Electron Blue, Feeling Gravity's Pull, High Speed Train, and It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine). If this is the end of R.E.M., it is an appropriate finish. |

| Bush – Machinehead Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song, like many grunge songs, is about the machine of society. The narrator begins by realizing that he is controlled by the machine and throughout the song becomes more and more enraged and shows progressive signs towards nonconformity. In live versions, Gavin Rossdale reads: "I've seen the best minds of my generation/they are starving, hysterical, and naked..." Which, are the first lines of the poem Howl, which is available online. This poem, by Allen Ginsburg, depicts a society which controls people as if machines. It destroys unique and individual behavior and forces complete conformity. Bush may have a number of "literal" songs, but this is certainly not one of them. This is a deep song with a very familiar grunge tone. |

| Soundgarden – Ty Cobb Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Despite what richenback wrote, Ty Cobb never killed a human being, at least it was never reported. His mother, however, accidentally killed his father while he was spying on her to see if she was with another man in their own house. |

| Stone Temple Pilots – My Second Album Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I found this: "Richard Petersen a Seattle street musician... an emotionally impaired savant with encyclopedic recall who taught himself the trumpet and piano by studying a production LP of musical cues from the obscure early-fifties television show Sea Hunt has been a touchstone in many Seattle lives for years. He has played trumpet outside of concerts, sporting events and blockbuster movie premieres with a can labeled "No Canadian Coins" at his feet for at least three decades. He is ubiquitous--apart from agoraphobics, the bedridden and those chained to a basement wall, everyone in Seattle has one or two Richard Peterson stories: he is well known and well loved. Here, Irwin Chusid, on an Incorrect Music Hour entitled Music everyone at work can agree on, eternally plays--albeit on RA--Peterson's The Enemy (Is on the Radio Singing My Song) and After The Gold Rush from Richard Peterson's First Album. His first album did well--he was big in Japan. He has four albums out. His My Second Album is the hidden song on the Stone Temple Pilots Purple. He has put four albums out. And now there is Big City Dick: Richard Peterson's First Movie--a well received documentary." Pretty interesting... |

| Stone Temple Pilots – Sour Girl Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
From what I've researched, this song is based off of the failed marriage Weiland had with his first wife. The video, as random as it is, has a lot to do with Weiland's rehabilitation time. He watched a lot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in rehab., and had, at least once, a dream with demented type teletubies. He wanted to make the video for this song with the demented teletubies and of course wanted Buffy, Sarah Michelle Gellar, in the video as well. You can't really make that up... :D |
