You forgot the beginning and end of this song: We do away with your kind Countdown to exterminate the human race 0, 3, 2, 1 and Earth successfully erased. |

| Bright Eyes – Lua Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This is what Wikipedia had to say about it: ...the song deals with two people as they struggle through depression, addiction, and an interminable night. The song's theme is how what feels right during the night often turns out wrong in the morning. I agree with this interpretation the most so far. I believe in the addiction part. That's what I thought of when I first heard this song, anyway. |

| Cannibal Corpse – Stripped, Raped And Strangled Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I don't have the album with this song in it, but I've heard that the version with Tori Amos is just a bootlegged copy of it that's been passed around online and such. Is the Tori Amos part really on the album? | |
| Commander Venus – Do You Feel at Home? Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Sorry for double-posting, but just one more thing. If you don't believe that it's Conor singing, check out the DVD "Spend An Evening With Saddle Creek." You can get it on their website. If the life clips of Commander Venus don't convince you, then just shut the fuck up. |

| Commander Venus – Do You Feel at Home? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Everyone who says that that's not Conor's voice are FUCKTARDS. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commander_Venus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Do_You_Feel_at_Home%3F_%28album%29 Hmm, Conor does lead vocals, AND there isn't any mention of any "special guests" singing along with the band. Also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conor_Oberst#Discography I have many of the different songs from this Discography (mostly from Water), and his voice is very high-pitched. He DID have a little-boy voice. If any of you have listened to the song "Life As Expected", also by Commander Venus, you will see that it is also Conor's voice. But wait!? His voice is a grown-up voice! Yes, because he finally either hit puberty, or went far enough into it to where he has a more adult voice. This is why his first Bright Eyes album has a more adult voice than before. HE WENT INTO PUBUERTY!!! He was 14 when the first Commander Venus album came out, so his voice must've changed when he got into year 15 of his life. THERE! MYSTERY SOLVED! IT IS CONOR SINGING!!! WEEEEEE!!!!! Whoever said it wasn't really is a retarded piece of shit. Check out his solo stuff (his first mark on the music industry), and you'll obviously see that it IS Conor singing. Just search for his stuff on LimeWire. That's how I got it. |

| Opeth – The Moor Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| EDIT: Could someone please tell me where all of you are getting this idea that Still Life is about an African slave (or freed slave)? I just don't see where you would get that idea. | |
| Opeth – The Moor Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
*sigh* I now have lost faith in the people that have so accurately so many other Opeth albums. Here's what Wikipedia has to say about the song (it gives the meanings of all of the songs. you have to remember, Still Life is a CONCEPT ALBUM): "The Moor" tells that he was shunned by his community. He was called an "ungodly freak - defiler", and was "branded a Jonah with fevered blood". He was beaten, burned, covered with mud, and banished from his town, returning 15 years later for his love Melinda, whom he had to leave behind when he was banished. |

| Cursive – At Conception Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I guess, though, if you have sex with someone when they are emotionally vulnerable, then it could be considered rape, because they wouldn't exactly be 100% on doing said act. | |
| Cursive – At Conception Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I agree on the idea of what this song is about, except for one factor: Jenie's (or however you spell it) age. If she's underage, then that means that her boyfriend must be underage as well. The average Catholic priest is around middle-aged and above. This means that even young adults would be considered kids to them, due to their age. Since Jenie's boyfriend is old enough to join the army, then that means that she anywhere from 18-22. At the very youngest, she is 17, but I doubt this. | |
| Shadows Fall – Idle Hands Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| To put it bluntly and in the most straight-forward sentence I can think of: this song is about rage. Because of all the stress to give in to all of these demands by the world and the people around him, all the stress in him is building up to rage and is slowly growing inside of him, causing him pain through these unstable and wild emotions that he is feeling. The rage is hurting himself more than anyone else. | |
| Eminem – Encore/Curtains Down Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think this is pretty much his retirement song. I mean, he'll still appear on other rapper's albums and maybe release one or two songs every now and then, but for now, I think this was a way of saying that he's gonna slow down and possibly stop releasing albums. There were a few songs on the album that I liked. It wasn't one of his best, though. The Eminem Show was good, but I really liked some of the songs on The Slim Shady LP better. Everything up to The Eminem Show was good, but Encore comes up short. I think the whole thing with Encore is that it was his follow-up to The Eminem Show, in a sense that his fans kept calling for him to release another album. Then, after that one, he released Curtain Call because he was thinking of retiring from releasing albums. That's why it didn't have too many original songs. The hit on that album, though, seemed to show that he was going to retire. He should release one more album. One with the same type of lyrics from the good old days. |

| Eminem – Rain Man Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
There isn't a meaning to this song. He says it right in the lyrics: and I don't even gotta make no god damn sense I just did a whole song and I didn't say shit I mean, sure, he'll bash some things in this song and make fun of stuff and such, but for the most part, overall, he didn't give a meaning or anything to this song. It's just nothing. |
|
| Opeth – Windowpane Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I can see why this song might bring people to the conclusion that it's about child abuse, but the first impression I got from it is about a dead soul in pain about the fact that he can see and hear everything that is going on, but nobody can see or hear him. Nobody notices him. The soul is very lonely and sad about this fact. | |
| Marilyn Manson – The Fight Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| From what I've read, this song is based around some stuff on Fredrick Nietzsche. I'm probably wrong, though. | |
| Elliott Smith – Everything Means Nothing to Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
One more thing, about the Figure 8 stuff, it really does have a great meaning to the album. He stated what the album title meant in an interview once (forget what the interview was for, though): "I just like the idea of a figure eight, of figure skaters trying to make this self-contained, perfect thing that takes a lot of effort but essentially goes nowhere." |
|
| Elliott Smith – Everything Means Nothing to Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
The first part, to me, is talking about how he just wants to live and either go on or live in the moment peacefully, yet there is always something keeping him from doing that, ie the blue songbird who keeps singing over everything. The second part, to me, is taking about how he has been breaking down and just sinking to the bottom, while reminiscing on how he was before, before he started to fall into rock bottom. |

| Bright Eyes – Laura Laurent Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Umm, words&tricks, I think you might only be half-right on that one. Let me take a sentence from the wiki article on it: The title "Lua" may refer to the Portuguese word for "moon" (in the end of the song, Oberst repeats the line "It was so simple in the moonlight" a number of times). The cover is also a reference to this, as it is the nighttime version of the I'm Wide Awake cover. He could have had a girlfriend in his past that was named Laura, and decided to write about her. There has been this debate about who he sings about in his songs, and I think that the rumor that he writes all of them about one girl (his love songs) and references her whenever he writes about love or something is just stupid. Why couldn't Conor have more than one girlfriend or girl that he liked or had spent some time nights with in his past? He is almost 30. Anyway, I believe that this song is about his time with a girl (probably a girlfriend from the way he sings about her and such) named Laura that took place sometime in his past. He's probably writing about who she was always sad (probably had some sort of depression) and how he promised that he would take care of her always, only to break it. And now, through this song, at the end, he's reassuring her that she can be strong and get through any dark or sad times that she has: "But you should never be embarrassed by your trouble with living Because it's the ones with the sorest throats, Laura Who have done the most singing" That's what I think, anyway. |

| Circa Survive – In Fear and Faith Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| For everyone who thinks that the line is, "I can't remember the thaw", why don't you check in the booklet that comes with the cd. It says, "I can't remember the fall". This is why people dispute the lyrics so much. Most cds come with lyrics in the booklet. Songs that you download don't. | |
| Backseat Goodbye – Tables and Chairs Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
No wait, I'm wrong. It is about life and how it may end in death, but even though it's short, it's still beautiful and you should live it to the fullest. It's not a tragedy or anything like that. It's just him telling us that even though life ends eventually, it's still worth living every second that we have. This isn't a lullaby. This isn't a tragedy. It’s just a boy singing a love song. |
|
| Backseat Goodbye – Play Three Again Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Sunshineface, he's mentioned sex, the taking off of clothes, and soooo much more stuff about the subject in sooo many of his other songs. He might not use the word sex, but he does mention it. Anyway, I think lizlovespink got it right with what the song is about. I can't really understand some songs too much when they put ideas into single lines for some reason. It really sucks =( |
|
| Backseat Goodbye – Tables and Chairs Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I'm guessing, because of the lines "It's just a boy singing a love song" and "This is where goodbye leaves your lips" along with the beautiful stuff, I'm guessing this song is about a love that's ended and the guy is having a hard time dealing with it and is contemplating suicide? I'd rather have it about how living ends in death, and how quote "If you're gonna go down then give them hell kid" and about how life is beautiful short as it is and all that stuff, but I guess that's not what Chad had in mind... *sigh* |
|
| Leonard Cohen – Everybody Knows Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| From what I've read about the song in reviews and such, the song is either about love in the age of AIDS or, more strongly, a bleak prophecy of the end of the world as we know it. | |
| Dr. Dre – Forgot About Dre Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Eh, the parts with Dre singing are okay, but I can't help put fast forward the song just so I can hear Eminem's rap. I don't wanna hear about how Dre was down at one point in his rap career and now is back up, I wanna hear about how Eminem choked some guy and burned down a house. | |

| Cradle of Filth – Cthulhu Dawn Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
HP Lovecraft, author from the 1920-1930s, created the myth of Cthulhu. Read his story: The Call of Cthulhu, and you will know everything you will need to know about the topic. It's only 30 pages long. If you don't want to go to your local library, here's an alternative source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cthulhu It tells everything from the pronunciation and all of that stuff. |

| Bright Eyes – The Joy in Forgetting/The Joy in Acceptance Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Even though the song does have something to do with a broken relationship (hence the first two lines), I think it's about a lot more than that. First off, the beginning is talking about how the guy suspects and probably knows that his girl is cheating on him, so he falls into a depression. As time goes on, he falls into an even deeper depression and starts to look for anything that can help him through his sadness (alcohol from his brother and cocaine from this girl he met. probably a dealer or a friend). This only worsens his sadness to the point of him being suicidal. He finally tells someone (his mother) what's wrong, and she tells him that if he wants to get out of this depression and move on, he will have to try. He can't just bury it deep inside or have a cheap fix by using harmful substances. He has to try to move on and try to get free from what is causing him pain. If only you try, you will be happy. But the problem is, he won't try. He doesn't have the will or strength to try. It's such a sad song. I love how it changes from all this noise mashing and instruments playing to just a piano. The music in this song is just astonishing! |

| Bright Eyes – Happy Birthday to Me (Feb. 15) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think it's about someone who is reflecting on his year on his birthday (since the year typically starts and ends on the day of said person's birth). Since his year has been so indifferent and bad because of his bad decisions and such, he drinks to kill his memory and pain. He calls someone because he is in so much pain and is possibly thinking of killing himself, so he tries to talk and get everything out, hoping the other person will listen and, through this, save him. | |
