Iron Maiden – Paschendale Lyrics 17 years ago
Descriptions of war in songs generally tend to make the songs anti-war. I think Maiden, like Motorhead (reference "1916" & Battle Of The Somme), tend to place heroism on those that answer a call-to-arms to defend something, their island as it were, but place a much heavier negative impact on overt imperialism and sending soldiers off to die for questionable, if not criminal, causes. Some, like "The Trooper" and "Aces High" can be read as pro-war, but I believe they're truly pro-soldier. You can support those that make the sacrifice that those in their ivory towers would never dream of while wanting to burn the ivory towers themselves.

Manic Street Preachers – The Love Of Richard Nixon Lyrics 18 years ago
Ramshotel is on the mark. And for those that wrote the Manics off with Lifeblood, geez, let the band grow and try new things - it was a phase, like all artists go through. The lyrics are actually pretty intense and well-researched, a necessary foundation for this kind of art. Nixon was human and, in reality, no worse than most other U.S. Presidents, he just trusted the wrong people (like Kissinger) and got caught (or set up.)

Manic Street Preachers – Faster Lyrics 18 years ago
Everyone here has made excellent comments on "Faster." Personally, on the title, I think it is another of the Manics' titles with multiple meanings, a la "Spectators Of Suicide" and the S.O.S. acronym implied and "Another Invented Disease" and the A.I.D.s. implied.
