| I don't understand why everyone has a fit over Dave's religion. It is obvious that the point he tries to make in this song and other songs is that it doesn't matter whether there is a god or not, you should live your life with respect, dignity, and purpose regardless of the existence of a creator. "Be wary of those who believe in a neat little world because it's just fucking crazy..." He is saying that there are no simple answers and there is no one who can claim they know the real truth. Just like in "Mother, Father". "There is no God above and no Hell below, it is up to us to keep the flow". He is saying that we shouldn't rely on higher powers to get us through our problems, the only thing we can do is rely on ourselves and try to do the best we can while we are here on this planet. | |
