yeah the idiot didnt seem to realize "leave the gun" makes no sense whatsoever in that verse.. and even though blindside is a strongly religious band, this song does confuse me because the first verse is so obviously about God but everything after implies the speaker is "in love" with whoever he's talking about, and God isnt exactly a lover so it seems as if the rest of the song would be about an ex girlfriend or something. its strange. |

Materialism. -preoccupation with or emphasis on material objects, comforts, and considerations, with a disinterest in or rejection of spiritual, intellectual, or cultural values. "the concept of fashion, is the one to blame painting the portrait of convictionless existance" The ever present "need" to fit in. Fashion has in a sense, ravaged the world we live in. We are constantly striving for new clothing, new jewelry, the latest video game systems. Yet why? There is no conviction, no strong belief except the want to fit it. This materialistic view on life has caused to world today to be convictionless, without dreams or goals to change the world. also, it has driven us from religion. As stated previously, the materials of today drive us away from our spiritual self. "well, it must be difficult being so gorgeous. claiming to be the kings and queens but it's all of nothing." Oh yessss, favorite lyrics, right here. Human nature drives us to take things for granted. We are honestly not worthy of anything that we own. Anything. The clothing on your back would not be there if god did not will it. So yes, very sarcastically, it must be ever so hard with all of your wealth. yet at the same time. it is. Many people who has materials and wealth are not as close to Jesus because their possessions drive them away. This makes me pity them honestly. Because the salvation of your soul is greater than any iphone or car. and your not a king or queen. you are gods child. that is it. nothing anymore special than any friend, family member or cripple. you are the same. give yourself to the lord and through that you become something. Romans 12:1- do everything to the glory of god. only through his power can your actions be glorified. i'm going to hope for you, i'm going to pray for you amongst the wreckless and the black. salvation lies within." This embodies every "perfect" christians life. Even if we do not believe the same as someone else, we love them as we love ourselves, for they are a perfect product of god. We should pray, turn their plight to god and let him lead them to salvation. We are but a tool to him. Something that he can use to save another. Thats a beautiful privledge. Also, Salvation is in the depths of your heart. All you have to do is turn yourself to god. then you will be saved. "my time is your's my friend. we all find ourselves so horribly weak. (Oh God,) here's an offering. " We must give people our ear. By listening, we can help. We must give time to make disciples. Jesus told us to go out and tell the world, make disciples of everyone. But we must give our time and efforts to achieve this. And because you are a christian does not mean problems disappear. It means you can handle them differently. Turn them to christ. We all find ourselves weak everynow and then. yet through christs salvation we can be cleansed. And relating back to discipleship. by converting others we are giving and offering to god. the offering of another servant to live a glorious life. |

This song is very obviously about baptism and the cleansing feeling that follows your new found redemption. "And yet, I've been cleansed with the water. A purity no mind can grasp; A purity so cool upon my fingertips." This is of course the baptism. The water is used to cleanse during baptism and brings purity to not just the soul, but the persons connection with christ. It is an unimaginable feeling to have such a powerful connection with such a great being. The fact that it says "so cool upon my fingertips" shows that there is physical excitement. Not simply a meaningless ritual that brings false feelings, but something that relaxes and excites. "The vision I have seen: This is the action that spawns from the end." When you get to heaven, your life long devotion to christ will be repaid. Being baptised is like signing an oath to god, one that is more powerful than any piece of parchment or any legal document. What has man done? They have given themselves away. Ever searching for the next thing. Many people say they love god, believe in god. Yet to believe and to love are different. Satan believes. We have given away our beliefs. We still sing praises, yet our hearts are not in the words. We have our objects, yet our hearts are not on who gave them to us. And this is where our doctrines were soiled. So i think this song is when plagues started. People have found that for salvation they must praise god. Why do people only call for help when they need it? One can spend his or her whole life taking advantage of what they have been given and taking everything for granted, yet when faced with death or pain, they revert to their "christian beliefs" this is not belief. This is desperation and once again taking advantage of something you have been privledged with. " he sang with us and loved others" god has always been with us. he never left. We are no one special. God loves everyone equally regardless of what they have done. I agree with law187. This is the opening to a tragedy. I find this song to be a picture of society today. Many families have fallen apart. Divorce is an everyday occurence. The integrity and love we have lost sickens those who hold these things dear. Then some advice. "Bury your diamonds, Destroy your Rubies" What is materialism? "the philosophical theory that regards matter and its motions as constituting the universe, and all phenomena, including those of mind, as due to material agencies. " Precious goods have replaced the place that god held in our lives. We now worship the almighty diamond instead of the almighty lover, creator, and savior. Society is disintegrating, we are miserable. That is true. When i found jesus, my life changed. When i held my material possessions above all, i was unhappy, depressed, and could never have enough of anything. "I wish to write a conclusion" I see this pertaining to the entire CD. This whole cd i may be taking very literally, but in the lyric book there are bible versus pertaining to Exodus, the chapter of the bible in which the plagues ensue. I feel that as we near the end of the CD we find that plagues have ravaged the good in the world. Yet we find that god is still there. Did god leave the Egyptians when the plagues ravaged their lands? This is the ultimate test of faith. Taking not what you want or "deserve" but what god wants for you. "Serpents will transform into mice only to drown in the deepest red. I've always expresses my thoughts in colors, but we remain blind." Man wants to view himself as a powerful being, yet that power is instilled upon us by god. These "serpents" have misued their power for their will, yet without god they would not be there. As the plagues tear their land and health to shreds, they fall victim and see this. Turning to "mice" or prey instead of the original predator. Their whole lives full of power have been turned around on them and they find themselves having nothing. "drowning in the deepest red" red is love, red is death, red is blood. my first thought was blood, yet now i think i have found a better answer. God loves man. Period. Sin is forgiven, all you have to do is ask. They will fall from their power and find that when they become the prey and give themselves to god, they drown in the love, become enclosed in it. |
