I can't believe that only one person had a comment to this great song! Maybe it’s not a well known song in the area I live but it is certainly a great one, and one with a lot of meaning too (at least to me). I think it’s about the difficulties (represented by the bottle) that you have to face in some point of your life and about the hope, sometimes futile, that those difficulties will be surpassed ahead on and you take control of it (become the captain of the ship that is your life). Of course sometimes it seems that you’re never going to get out of that bottle and every bit of your life is always the same and repeats over, and over and over again, and your life is nothing but a drifting ship. There’s always that hope… the one that you’ll find a “better sea” in the middle of that wild stormy ocean that life is, but I think in this song that sea is nowhere to be found, nothing but a “mental mutiny”, a refusal of all that’s happening wrong in your life. It’s really a scary thought, especially for a young person, and sometimes it’s even suffocating. Anyway, that’s just a bit of my interpretation. I’m not sure if it’s a right one… |
