o btw despaired dreamer, your interpretation is cool..but just wanted to correct you on a few things if you dont mind. there is no such thing as a higher perception, drugs CHANGE perception. even though morrison lived by pushing his physical limits, it was rarely that the trip alone (as many people have written) is the reason and/or meaning of his pieces...in my opinion his trips only provided visual metaphor to what he felt like pretty much his whole life. no one needs to take acid to know what love feels like...but on the other hand if you are in love and take acid...you see where i'm goin with this? |

whoever named the political themes, in my opinion, is fully right. it's definetely about the tension and sense of hopelessness during the cold war era..you can even hear the tension musically, as they try to escape confusion. |

in my opinion, there is a clear duality of people...those who were born satisfied, and those who would have to work all of their lives chasing satisfaction. These people you could very easily clarify as rich (sweet delight) or poor (endless night), ignorant (realms of bliss) or enlightened (realms of light)...etc etc... when you notice the duality u get the meaning. |

that is a good analogy...babylon being any kingdom (i.e. America) where material possesions and war overtake peace and spirituality...such a civilization is bound to fail. |
