thuglifeforevs, all due respect but saying it don't make it so. The lyric is clearly audible as "still alive FOR you, love" in the song. This also makes more sense, both semantically and in context - Vernon wrote the song with a friend of Heath Ledger in mind who was grieving Ledger's loss (see: http://exclaim.ca/News/justin_vernon_talks_new_bon_iver_album_its_heath_ledger_connection) crow heart, thanks for the re-posted lyrics. I agree with you that they're much more accurate. beautiful song! |

| This is a beautifully mysterious song, but for me the basic take-away is a feeling of yearning and connection to all of humanity and to the world we live in. The blue light in the best friend's room could just be the glow of a TV, reflected in his eyes - though as the pulsating glow of the song itself, it also represents the power of the universe running through us. The singer is sharing her sensation - one many of us often feel - of being disembodied, sailing, floating, seeing the world as pure energy. This isn't cold - rather, she's filled with a kind of serene joy and is trying to share the experience with us: "Don't you see them shining." The song is a beautiful, open-ended expression of an almost spiritual love for a blue-lit world and the flaming hearts swimming within it. | |
