I recently lost a very, very dear friend of mine...not from sickness, but from her own pulling away...and while this song may be primarily be about a lost love situation, it honestly feels perfect in describing the situation. If we ever see each other again, I feel like it'll be different, and like that closeness will have been lost...it's a beautiful song. Tragic but beautiful. |

...Okay, so I know we're focusing a lot on the meaning of this song, but I've gotta go off topic and ignore that for a second...going by just the melody and its use of escalating riffs and tempo changes, I find this song intoxicatingly sexy for some reason. Does anyone else have that reaction when listening to the actual music or am I just really strange? |

You know, while this does have a lot of religious imagery in it, and while it does sound like it would make a sweet love song, it could also just be referring to a good friend. Did that cross anyone else's mind but mine? (Not meant to sound offensive; that was a serious question.) I mean, with some friends, you can screw up time after time, but they'll still forgive you because they love you and care about you that much. And like the song says, if you reach out to them, they'll still be there for you. It's a rare kind of friend, sure, but it exists. |
