| To me its just two people who broke up for whatever reasons, but they don't think its what should have been. Hes saying hes sorry for digging himself a hole by e-mailing, texting, iming, calling her constantly, dug himself a hole with a modern invention. Shes just saying shes sorry for ignoring him when he tried, how she made him feel that he couldn't fix anything that there was nothing he could say to fix what happened between them. | Shes saying how wanting more keeps someone going, but the person your with or the love you have now might be their true love. Something happened that made her leave the guy she was with, and now she regrets it. Shes living in depression because she now sees that he was her true love. But she still has Hope, because she has faith. She wont let anything tarnish her faith, doubting that they will get back together one day or what people say, she wont let anything get in the way of her faith and because of her faith she has Hope. Maybe shes thought about giving up or doing something worse, or maybe the other person has shown no signs of wanting her back. And shes saying to herself, Ready Or Not tomorrow its still gonna hurt, tomorrow they wont be together, but you know Ready Or Not its not gonna get any better anytime soon. Everyday she feels like she can just give up and fall apart, like no one could possibly know what shes going through and shes just doing the best she can. But shes gonna be there, be there tomorrow too, not thinking about the possibility of no reconciliation but waiting for another shot with him, another shot for true love because she has faith and Hope because of that. | I think the title and lyric 'Darkest Things' means the loneliness and pain of two people who were in love, but arn't together now, and how they stayed in the darkness of not being together because thats the only thing of the other person that they still could hold onto. I think the song in general about two former lovers who haven't been in touch for a lonth tg time, haven't seen each other in a while. But they are in the same room now, neither one will back down from what they want, from each other. They both take blame for the things that have happened that resulted in them not being together, how she fell apart when he, her true love arrived. But the song and album ends with them reconciling, it ends with them going home. | |
