9/11 never crossed my mind on this one, i thought the buildings falling was another song about the world eventually ending, just like red sky and of dust and nations. but it is past tense so that might not fit. i thought the "fire burns beneath Manhattan" was referencing hell, and that if we dont scream to spread the truth then people would die not believing in a supernatural being or god. i thought the broken lungs were the same metaphor for lungs in firebreather and the messenger. "bullets pierce the bravest lungs"... its talking about how people may reject truth (or the word of god, depending on how you take it, but i think its so general that its talking about any truth subject) and how standing up for what you believe in can get you killed or rejected, in this song the broken lungs are all the people denying god. anyways, i know people dont like a take with god or christianity in it, but dustin is always influenced by the matter. |

| shallowbay hit it right on, but i just wanted to add that after hearing the whaler and the meaning behind that and now that dustin has a child of his own, this new perspective would make a lot of sense, seing as during artist in the ambulance dustin was younger and less mature, possibly more rebellious as icarus, but now that he has a child he is protective and sees things now through the perspective of a parent just like daedalus | |

| maybe its b/c im in this kind of a situation... but to me its like you like someone or love them, and you want to tell them, but things wouldnt work out or they wouldnt feel the same way, and its saying that this should be left unsaid, because you need your light to follow, or otherwords always keep pursuing them and youd be happier.... a weird variation of ignorance is bliss i guess? | |
