This song is also about how life is just a slow “collision” with death, and life really has no purpose at all, Or that doing drugs is a slow way to kill yourself. "Colliding slow like life itself" |

Alright so you can probably tell i like this song alot and I said in my previous post that this is my last reflection on this songs but I got another one... and this one is what i get more from the feel of the song more than the words like at the beginning of the song is slow this to me is the start of mankind the lyrics are foreshadowing what man will do, and the higher tension points, where phil says the repeatition of "floods" and the solo, are the chaos, war, killing, and violence that is happening, and the end the soft very heart outro and background raindrops are mankind stoping and fixing what they have done. |

Last one i swear.... another meaning I found is that the song is about man killing and hating other men, and that a flood could wash us away so that we are forced to survive as a species with the help of each other and that this event would show us that what we are doing is wrong and we need to stop and fix it. |

oh and one more is that he is wish for mankind to be "washed away" because we do so much damage and don't try to fix it. |

And again another meaning draw from this is that the he is wishing for something to purify or cleanse the world of these bad things "wash away us all" |

Oh yeah and that the people with the power to stop and fix these things don't do anything about "deaf ears are sleeping" |

What Riffmaster said is probably the most practical meaning for this song, the titles a dead give away, and I used to think the same thing, until one of my friends told me that this is one of those songs that really helped him when his dad was dieing, then I realized that the "flood" was a metaphor for death and the songs is about how fucked up life and the world can be, and that death can sometimes be a good thing that takes you away from all the chaos, war, killing, raping, stealing, slaughtering, violence, and destruction that is the world we live in. |
