Līve – Lakini's Juice Lyrics 16 years ago
Wow. Well, I'm not sure where some of you got the idea that the song is about him worshiping a woman (you probably just agreed with whoever posted first, that's where you got the idea from no offense,) but that's wrong. The song has some very strong religious refrences. Here it is the insanely long entire real meaning. Feel free to read it a little at a time.

In the first verse, he says:

"It was an evening I shared with the sun
To find out where we belong
From the earliest days
We were dancing in the shadows"

-The sun usually represents God or Jesus. It is also a play on words with son and sun. He's talking to God and wondering how he fits into the world and how mankind has gone wrong. He learns that people have been "dancing in the shadows" or hiding themselves or their sins since "the earliest days" of their creation.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the next verse he says:

"More wine
Cuz I got to have it
More skin
Cuz I got to eat it"

-This is refering to communion as WildBill commented. John 6:54 - "Whoever eats my flesh ("skin" in the song) and drinks my blood (represented by wine) has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day." In the song he is saying " Cuz I got to have it and Cuz I got to eat it" because he doesn't want to be like the rest of humanity and sin, so he keeps trying to cleanse himself.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next he says:

"Inside the outside
By the river
Used to be so calm
Used to be so sane
I rushed the ladies' room
Took the water from the toilet
Washed her feet and blessed her name
More peace
Is such a dirty habit"

-This is also another religious refrence. I interpreted it like this: He wants to cleanse himself of sin and wash the woman's feet and bless her in the river but there are other people there who may criticize his religion and his public display of his beliefs when at one time they would not have looked down upon this. That's why he says "by the river used to be so calm, so sane."

-Instead of washing the woman's feet in the river, he goes to the ladies room where there is more privacy and washes her feet and blesses her with the dirty toilet water, in order to keep the peace and not offend people who don't agree with his religious practice of blessing her in public by the river. That's why he says "More Peace is such a dirty habit." He has to do something dirty to keep the peace. It could also be interpreted as him doing something bad or "dirty" to fit in with everyone else in society who sins then covers it up like he is trying to cover up his sins by trying to cleanse himself of them.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He says:

"Slow down, we're too afraid"

-Here, he could have several meanings: 1.that people need to slow down and not be so quick to react negatively to religion. 2.He may be afraid of showing his beliefs so he hides them.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then in the final verse:

"Let me ride
Let me ride
Burn my eyes
Let me ride"

-He says "let me ride" because he is tired of fighting for his beliefs so he either hides them or just "rides" along with what others believe and becomes a part of the world that he hates. He says "burn my eyes" because he knows that either way he will be persecuted, by God if he doesn't fight for his beliefs, or by society if he does stand up for his beliefs and doesn't fit in.

I don't see this as some stupid, sappy break up song. A lot of the lyrics don't fit for a break up song.

I think he's talking about the things he doesn't like about himself and what he wishes he could be and do, and maybe there's someone that he looks up to (or loves) and wants to be like. Which is why he is listing all the things he wishes he was, then he says:
"I wish I was you not I."

He says:
"I feel so cheap,
so used unfaithful.
Let's start over.
Let's start over."
because he's not living up to his own expectations for himself, which makes him upset and angry and he wants to start over and become all these things that he's not.

Sometimes I sing this song to God. :}

Smash Mouth – Walkin' On The Sun Lyrics 17 years ago
Rogerstigers, I'm sorry, but you are a complete dumbass. This song was NOT released in the 60s!
This song isn't about aids either Taruto. -.-
And from what I've heard, the 60s was a filthy era full of dirty hippies, and flower child freaks. Why the hell would anyone want to bring that back?
------------------------------------------------------------
HERE'S WHAT THE SONG MEANS

Anyway,
The song is about fads, and how they change with time that's why he says:

"It's just like any fad it retracts before impact
And just like fashion it's a passion for the with it and hip
If you got the goods they'll come and buy it just to stay in the clique."

- He's saying that some ideas used to have true meaning, but eventually just turned into mindless fads, and everyone wants to be part of the latest fad.

------------------------------------------------------------
"And their kids were hippie chicks all hypocrites
Because fashion is smashin' the true meaning of it"

- He's giving the example of the hippies and their idea of peace and love, and how it turned into a fad, because there was no real meaning behind their beliefs except smoking pot.

------------------------------------------------------------
"So don't delay act now supplies are running out
Allow if you're still alive six to eight years to arrive
And if you follow there may be a tomorrow
But if the offer is shun you might as well be walkin' on the sun"

- Here he's talking about how people capitalize on fads.

When he says:
"If you follow there may be a tomorrow"

-he means that some ideas that inspire fads truly have powerful meanings behind them that can change the world, and you should follow them.

When he says:
"But if the offer is shun you might as well be walkin' on the sun"

- he means that if your ideas have no meaning to back them, like that of the hippies, then you are screwed, not to mention you will make an ass out of yourself for following this type of fad.

Also in this part:

"Im not the reason
Its not my fault
Its not my problem

Im not your god
Im not your myrter
I'd leave you all

Im not the reason - (Im not your scapegoat)
Its not my fault - (Im not your god)
Its not my problem - (Im not your myrter)
Im not the cause - (Id leave you all)."

- He also feels that he shouldn't have to pay for his past lives, that he should be given a "clean slate," each time he returns.

This is why he says:
"I'd leave you all,"

"you all" being all his past lives, or all the "people" he has been.

And also by saying "dull boy," he may mean that his soul is fading until it eventually will not return again.
------------------------------------------------------------

This is a rather complicated concept, but if you think about it, it fits as the meaning of this song. I could go into much more detail, but I think you get the general idea.

Mudvayne – Dull Boy (Mudvayne's Myspace version) Lyrics 17 years ago
If you believe in reincarnation, the song could be tied to the idea of him coming back and living a miserable life or lives in order to pay for the evil things he has done in another past life.

"All work and no play makes me a dull boy..."

-He has to work to pay for whatever sin he has committed, which doesn't allow him to lead a full and happy life, making him a "dull boy."
------------------------------------------------------------

"Live like a transient"

- His soul is passing in and out of its existence on Earth.
------------------------------------------------------------

"Live in a secret
Live in a lie
Live in a dark hole beneath the black sky
Live like a martyr and draw my last breath
Feel like a old man with a knife in my chest
Live like a transient
Live like a thief"

-In these lines, he seems to be describing his past lives.
------------------------------------------------------------

"Hide in a closet, grinding my teeth
Sit in a small room with the walls closing in
Opened the shutters but everything’s still dim."

- He's trying to hide from his past and live a new life, but he can't.
------------------------------------------------------------

"Payback
For all the things
I’ve done in my past
Payback for everything
There are no take backs"

-He can't take back the things he has done, and now he has to pay for them, instead of hiding.
------------------------------------------------------------

"Im not the reason
Its not my fault
Its not my problem
Im not the cause

Im not your scapegoat
Im not your god
Im not your myrter
I'd leave you all

Im not the reason - (Im not your scapegoat)
Its not my fault - (Im not your god)
Its not my problem - (Im not your myrter)
Im not the cause - (Id leave you all)."

-Maybe a part of him can't consciously understand why he is being punished, because people aren't supposed to remember their past lives.
------------------------------------------------------------

"Work and no play makes me a dull boy
Feel like a clown without my funny nose."

- The work he has to do to pay for his sins isn't allowing him to live a full and happy life (or "play"), and he knows that there's something wrong with his life, because he feels different from other people.
------------------------------------------------------------

"Walk to the window, break it out with my fist
Jump from the sill and I’ll plunge to my death
You could be selfish whatever you think
Throw back my pills and take a sip of my drink."

- These are all the ways he has tried to kill himself to escape from his punishment, but his soul keeps coming back.
------------------------------------------------------------

"Walk under the clouds
Walk under the trees
Always again envy covering me."

- He sees normal people leadin happy, care free lives and feels envious.
------------------------------------------------------------

"Sunshines gone
Its all gone

By the way just so you know
Always this is how I feel

By the way just so you know
Always everyday this is how I feel."

- He feels miserable every day, in each life he leads, because he has to pay for whatever evil things he has done, but he is unwilling to. And until he does pay for it, he can never fully live.

He's talking about getting pleasure from killing someone. The girl in the song just wants to mess around, but she doesn't know that he's a psycho who gets his pleasure through killing. That's what he means by:

"Give me your power glowing, juicy flowing red hot, meaning of life It's not enough to have a little piece

"Free the violence that is building in me

Why he rolled the eyes back
Why he rolled those eyes, those heartless eyes"
[-"he" is an important, influential or famous person but he withdraws from others so people think that he is mean when really it's because he's shy or he feels hurt and lonley.]

"I won't pretend to lie once more
Protect my mind aside
You say goodbye
Keep all the things, you mark the place where I exist"
[-There is one person he can completely be himself around but they abandoned him (died maybe) and he misses them.]

"Our world is calling
So I'm crawling back to sea
Against the surge of waves that
Held us, with that ancient grip beneath
Retreat to safer waters"
[-Here Pete is refering to the saying, "like a fish out of water". The person in the song feels like a fish out of water so he is returning to the "water"]

"Still learning what chaos kills
But whoever cares, nobody cares like you do
Why we don't bend in time, just shut the door
Why we come to the wall, claim less is more"

[-He's letting go and instead of being a fish out of water, he's returning to the water... (this may even mean that he is going to kill himself to be with the person he loved who has died)]

The city's saving grace
But whoever knows, nobody knows
[-He has completely withdrawn himself or killed himself and no one would have expected it of him because he hid his feelings and lonliness. No one ever saw the other side of him.]

This is a lengthy explanation of the song, but please read it because it's deep and I think most people would agree with the meaning I'm offering"
I think you aren't read into it enough..

This song is definately about someone who has done something wrong in their past and they are afraid of people discovering what they did, and their struggle to confront themselves about it.

"Visit again white elephant"
[-The expression "white elephant" usually refers to something like a ghost that haunts someone. (Much like the pink elephant is used to show that someone is insane or intoxicated.) Here it is refering to a past action or sin that is haunting the character Pete has created in the song.]

"Who sent you to the loom?"
[-He asks what has caused him to feel remorse for whatever is haunting him.]

"Shall we sever everything?
Ponder this while we ponder why."
[-Here he's asking if he should forget about what he has done and try to move on.]

"He's starting to follow crows,
and climbing the ladder somewhere out,
to really begin to scare,"
[-This part of the song explains the effects of his guilt that is haunting him. He has become a darker person (hence the crows) and he seems out of touch with other people, possibly his family or friends, and they are are afraid for him.]

"and plotting to cover the grounds with a fine tooth comb"
[-This part of the song means that people are trying to find out what's wrong with him, or what he has done.]

"You poor little antisaint.
You poor little antisaint."
[-Pete seems to show sympathy and sarcasm here... He (the character in the song, not Pete) feels that he's not a good person but he's pretending to be one, or he want to be one, but maybe he can't because he doesn't want to give up his evil ways.]

"Nothing to say for the last time,
Just want to sink his will."
[-He's ashamed of himself for what he has done and he doesn't have any way to justify it. He feels that he can't change.]

"Just want to sink his will.
Like a predator's prey in the cold,
slowly starts to show."
[-Maybe people have also found out but they also lead him to believe that he can't change, because they want him to be hurt, and his pain and regret begins to show.]

"Assurance is what they need.
Hold the lion until it's fed."
[-It alludes to the part of the Bible that says "The Lion will lay down with the Lamb," but like him, maybe the lion cannot be trusted so "hold the Lion until it's fed," or in other words make sure that you can trust him before you put your faith in him. People need to know that he has changed and is no longer dangerous.]

"It's still only morning
But the fly's surfaced."
[-He believes that it is too late for him to change, but "it's only morning" meaning that he can still change and no longer be an evil, dangerous person, because he has caught his mistakes early and felt remorse for them.]

"You poor little antisaint.
You poor little antisaint.
You poor little antisaint.
You poor little antisaint."
[-Again Pete seems to be sympathetically mocking him.]

"The stakes are too low.
We may not need any."
[-He feels that if he doesn't change then he may lose everything, but again he wonders if it will matter if it's already too late and he's already lost it all, so why should he change?]

"Course we never feared it"
[-People never expected this out of him...]

"And if you could tell,
That the cleverest acting
Was the lying by you,
lying by you,
lying by you."
[-He has lied to himself about the past that is hauntiing him, and other people have no right to judge him because they have also sinned and made mistakes, but they have lied to make themselves seem perfect, when we are all really like him...]
