| The Beatles – The Fool on the Hill Lyrics

If you limit this to any single person, you're really demeaning the song. It's about those everywhere who think differently and are shunned for their wisdom or individuality. It could easily be Jesus, Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., Buddha, Guru Nanak, or any other holy man, philosopher, or scientific thinker who was shunned by the mainstream society of his or her generation. So it's really rather pathetic to debate which one it is, rather than accepting the fact that the song's more about an idea than a person. |

| Dead Kennedys – Religious Vomit Lyrics

There's a difference between the 700 Club and other religious people. I'm semi-religious, and i have a strong belief in God, but im certainly not a sheep. DK is one of my favorite bands, and, though i disagree with the idea that ALL religions are evil, i can agree that some religions are evil. Most of the evil comes from the faith that im associated with (Christianity,) due to the evils of its notable members, and its sheepish members. However, if you really read the New Testament, it's quite liberal, and accepting of all. Perhaps "Religion" and "Faith" should be separated- Organized Religion is easily corrupted, while personal faith and search for a higher good and authority is not. |

| Interpol – Stella Was a Diver and She Was Always Down Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
I feel it's about a woman who commits suicide because she came out of some sort of solitude, as described by "her scuba days", and was disappointed by the world, because she was mistreated by a lover. She commits suicide in a form that represents returning to her solitude for her- drowning. She was used for sex, used for her body, etc. The lover then realizes how much she really meant to him, and has no opportunity to get her back, but he takes peace in the fact that she's at peace and in her solitude. A twisted, tragic Romeo and Juliette.
Then again, with interpol, its really just a series of images strung together that make an overall emotion with their songs... it feels like one of peace, on this one. |

to me, it's about one of two things
either it's about fame estranging you from who you once were, or the simple lonliness of being stranded out in a metaphorical space; having something separate you from the rest of mankind that you simply cant overcome, and the struggles that come with that. |

| Radiohead – Creep Lyrics
|
My dad and me were talking about this song, and he made a great point...
These are the truest lyrics ever written, simply because anyone can relate to them. Regardless of who you are, everone's felt like this once in their life. Which is why it garnered so much attention, and which is why it frustrated Thom and the rest of the guys to no end. But it's not something to be ashamed of. Few artists have pegged down this kind of song. It's quite an accomplishment.
However, Radiohead has plenty of other great stuff out there, some of which is equal to this song, some of which goes above and beyond it, and some of which that doesnt quite match up. It takes multiple songs to summarize life, not just one great one. |

What do you think the line "God is empty just like me" mean then? perhaps that God sees how dark the world is becoming, much like the speaker? |

it's about losing the person who's perfect for you, because you're not really perfect for them... that cruel twist of fate when you break up with the person who you know you'll always love and always think about... |

acctually, from what i remember, Job had many children. they were having a feast, and Satan told God that he felt that even Job would stop being faithful if he lost everything, so God bet differently, and collapsed the roof of a house while they were having a feast. your theory is, therefore, crap.
oh, and where do you have the right to judge Billy's religious decisions? perhaps i'm biased, but that is, regardless, crap. |

that site's obviously rather biased, izardstreet.
i think the song's about how, unless some things they explain in the rest of the album dont change, theres gonna be some extremely hard times coming for us. what better to show bad times than a doomsday clock? |

| The Smashing Pumpkins – That's the Way (My Love Is) Lyrics
| 17 years ago

kinda reminds me of George Orwells 1984... the two main characters swear that no matter what the government does to them (they're in a communistic dictatorship) they'll always love each other. except in this version, they seem to keep that promise, while in the book, the government is able to destroy even that.
over all, it seems to be about an undying love, obviously. a complete trust for someone, a caring that wont be broken. |

i doubt this song is acctually about the real Mr. Rogers. it seems more like the neighbor that jon talked about in Daddy. the neighbor was kind to him, lulling him into a false sense of security and then taking advantage of jons innocence. im suprised jon wasnt crying at the end of this song like he did in daddy. so tragic ;.; |

also, id like to say this: punk isnt left wing or right wing. its simply independent. its whatever the hell you choose. its whatever the band chooses. its whatever it is. dont say that an entire art-form is left or right. punk is obviously a middle party. everyone has differing morals and choices in punk |

the pistols rock. the fact that they wrote half of the lyrics on this song alone prove that. (i.e. fuck this and fuck that). i think that line in particular means "dont go around having sex if you're not willing to deal with the consequences. it amazes me that humans are low enough to kill their own defenceless flesh and blood. what is this world coming to?

i can definitely see it being about the cold war.... the government was overly paranoid and watching us all... i see it the other way too... a songs lyrics are determined by you and only you. if you can see it a certain way, then thats part of the many things the song may be about. |

i think its really kurts good bye message... i personally think that he was murdered, but he was obviously suicidal...
1st verse- kurts trying to give us excuses for giving up... hes saying that he has no right to be what he is- a genious
2nd verse- hes finally acknowleging that hes gifted, and tells us that the real reason that hes taking his life is that he no longer enjoys anything... he cant find happiness anywhere... |
