| Vanessa Carlton – Carnival Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This song is actually the original version. "Dark Carnival" was a remake for some video game about espionnage or something along those lines. This one is from her original unreleased album "Rinse". I think this song is about an ended relationship, one where her boyfriend wasn't very interested in her or something. |

| Vanessa Carlton – Where the Streets Have No Name (U2 cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Obviously there is more than one way to interpret the song, but to me, this song has to do with creativity. The "Streets [that have] no name" is like your imagination, where your mind isn't bound by names and you can make the streets whatever you want. "I want to tear down the walls//That hold me inside//I want to reach out//And touch the flame" - I feel like this is saying that you have to break out of the box which restricts your thought process and reach out to grab your burning ideas. "I want to feel sunlight on my face//I see the dust cloud disappear//Without a trace//I want to take shelter from the poison rain" - You feel great once you get your thought process flowing (hence the sunlight) and you see things become clearer. The Poison rain is kind of like escaping your problems or "poisonous" ideas. It seems probable that this could be one interpretation because both the writers and Vanessa are singers who need inspiration and imagination. Beautiful song by the way. |
