"They say sleep is the cousin of death, So my eyes' wide open 'cause a dream is kin to your last breath" My favorite line; keep your eyes open for opportunity or you'll die dreaming. |

| I think it's about a guy who fell for a chick, a chick who completely played him. He talks about remembering all the games, and every little lie, the promises she broke, and words she said but never meant. He wonders why he ever stuck through it, when they're obviously better off without each other. | |

| It's about time...it's a description of time, I think. | |

It's about wasted youth. The sun(shine) is a metaphor for opportunity. When you're younger, opportunities seem to be everywhere, and you kind of begin to overlook them because there's so many -tired of lying in the sunshine-. As you get older, you start to realize your time is not infinite, and the window of opportunity is closing. So you chase after opportunities, but keep missing them -And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again-. As previously stated, the sun is opportunity. When you're older, the opportunities are different, but they're still opportunities. As you see so many opportunities pass by you tire of chasing them, even as you grow older -The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older Shorter of breath and one day closer to death-. - Every year is getting shorter Never seem to find the time Plans that either come to nought Or half a page of scribbled lines- As you get older, time seems to go by faster. When you were 7, a year seemed like forever. When you're 17, it doesn't seem as long. You make plans, but they are either unfruitful or you can't finish them. The whole song, in my most humblest opinion, is saying that the time to take advantage of opportunities is when you are young. Don't waste your time. It won't last forever. -The time is gone The song is over Thought I'd something more to say- The most powerful line in the song in my opinion. The singer is saying he's speaking from experience. When you're young, you "know" you will be great. You'll be something. But then you get older, and you wonder why it never happened. You didn't become great, you lived a mediocre and unremarkable life. You thought you would be something more. The last line is about realizing your dream and ambitions never truly came true. In my opinion anyway. |
