the song speaks about how we (our society) follow blind ambitions that have stained and dare i say charred the earth with its repercussions. however the earth will show us how blind and careless we have been with her, by showing us and thus saving our eyes from darkness.... the snakes embody the venomous actions done by human beings such as deforestation, war, violence, hate, apathy ect. however these characteristics constitute the very nature of what being human is all about, therefore, they are irrevocably inherent to our species, such as our arms: dispensable yet at the same time essentially necessary..... |

This songs' theme reminds me of a an old tool song called "the swamp song", in which basically the person warns the other about the dangers of being imprudent and naive with yourself and your decisions. also i believe it has strong drug connotations stemming from a depressed or scared individual who at least mildly knows about the dangers of falling into a destructive behaviour but doesn't seem to mind at all, it kinda reflect the harsh reality of how drugs alchohol and any other decadent/recreational activity has drowned america in a wave of vices |

Maybe he's talking about hanging around people who are megalomaniacs as a direct result of negligent upbringing, and he feels its not his right to change them so he just gives up on them.... i think personalized the comment a bit hahahahaha , or maybe its another one of those songs that just states the evident fact that our world seems so fucked up lately, that its virtually impossible to hang out with anybody much less call somebody a true friend, but that would be to melodramatic..... |

have you guys stopped to consider that maybe he is not neccesarily talking about death in itself, but using the imagery of death to represent his feelings of isolation and frustration as an artist. he has come to terms that even though the lifestyle of an artist is very demanding & stressful, he has deemed it to be his favourite thing in the whole wide world even though sometimes he feels like letting it go.... just a thought |
