To me this song seems to mean that you shouldn't give into the pressure of having sex and "ignore all the codes of the day" to be easy and sex-obsessed to just be with each other in a non-physical way.

I don't like this song purely because I think Mick Jagger is brilliant. Morrissey is great but Mick Jagger probably has more fans than he does. |

I love this song, it seems as if it's about loneliness but I guess everybody has their own personal meaning for it. I can relate it to my own bad experiences when I was in love but I always felt alone. |

It means a lot to me, I generally think it's about a break up. When I ended my last relationship I was extremely down and every time I saw a couple I'd get really depressed. Also, I think it's about loyalty because he sings "why do I give valuable time
to people who don't care if I live or die", I can relate to that line, it's an excellent song and I love his voice on this track. It was the first Smiths song I got hooked on. |
