I had never heard the entire album from beginning to end until recently when I bought "The Suburbs" Popped in the cd and wow.. why didn't "Funeral" get a nomination for Best Album of The Year? This was such a greatly written album and to close it with this song... perfect. |

I stumbled upon this band just by looking through myspace accounts.. I'm happy I did. This.. and The Bitter Suite I & II.. are my favorite from this group by far. I still need to explore more of them. |

The sonnet is at the end of the song, "After all of this I am amazed, That I am cursed far more than I am praised" Which I think it means: After everything we use air for, including just breathing it in our lungs all of our lives, we are destroying it by pollution and we seem to be doing nothing to stop it. |

This song is great! From only listening to it twice, I feel it's about the days after 9/11/01 About how some people felt in New York, breathing in the poisonous dust from the rumble, going to work the day after like nothing had happened. And the one time we believed in our government about what they were saying, then only a few years after that it could have been prevented. Those are my two cents. |

My favorite memory of this song is one time at a show. The power had shut off so Dave got his guitar and played it by himself. Screaming all of lyrics so everyone could hear him. It was amazing. And I had no idea it was about an unborn child he was expecting. |

I feel that this song tells a story of a sailor searching for a giant squid. "The cheating wife" being the sea betraying him and causing him to fall in the ocean with the squid attacking him, then as he looks up all he sees is his blood around him making the sky look red. But that's just me. |

I love to see that this band is on this site. They live here in my area and hate that they don't play this song anymore! It's about a car accident the original members had some years back. Dave's lyrics are so very amazing. |
